I'm DONE!!!

Well, it's been a long time coming, and to be honest, I thought it wouldn't happen.

As you guys may be aware, I have been downsizing my collection lately, only to make room for something very special.

You guys may also remember this thread:
http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=39926

Well the lucky guy is a friend who also owned a perfect 5513 MilSub.

Since he had a strike of good fortune, it was time to go for the kill.

I mentioned to Jed some time ago (June 8, 2007 to be exact), that if/when he decided to sell his 5513, I would like first bite of the cherry!

Well, a few emails and telephone conversations later, and deliberating shipping arrangements, we were there.

Then a week of (nervously) tracking the shipment, she's finally arrived.

PLEASE ENJOY.

The drop off

The annoying stuff

The nice stuff

Far out Jed, what are you doing to me!!!

More annoying stuff

Getting closer

Closer.............

Finally, what a beauty!

Of course, a wrist shot or two.

My Fab 4

My wife was watching me as I snapped the pics, and she said, "So you're saying that that is "our" home extension?"

I looked at her and said, "Yes honey, I'm sorry............."

John, I can't tell you how happy I am for you. Watches like that come around once in a lifetime. That you were able to lock on just shows good things do happen to good guys.

Many, many congrats on the grail of grails. Very well done and what a fantastic addition to a dream collection.

Awesome vintage Sub, definitely fits into the rest of the collection.
I think we should name your collection "The Best of the Best".
Now all as you need is that vintage milgauss with the original lighning bolt hand and then...............

........................your done

Congrats John

The MilSub spring bars are fixed to fit a strap only.

John I notice you describe this as a 5513 but is it not a 5517?
Just curious if there is any difference and what is stamped on the case?

The T signifies the use of Tritium as the luminous material.

I agree, I'm not a strap fan too. It takes a little getting use to.

That would be GREAT, I'd really like that, but sadly not for a very looooooooong time.

The MilSubs were issued with three different models:
1. 5513
2. 5517
3. 5513/5517 Co-stamped

Essentually the watches are the same. Some say that certain models came with/without sword hands and 60 min bezel insert.

As with Comex watches, there are issue markings on the caseback.

But this one is full spec! I am really happy.

John.
