Best tools for changing straps on ROO Offshore Panda

Hi everyone,

I just acquired my first Royal Oak Offshore after a lot of thinking and consideration.

I've been meaning to change the straps on it because it came with a "short strap" which is too short for me. I can't wear the watch properly except on the very last whole which makes the alignment of the deployant on the underside at a very strange location.

I got it together with this Grey Hornback from the newer 2014 ROO Grey Theme Elephant, but it does not have a buckle or any tools to change the straps with.

The owner told me that I just need to find appropriate screwdrivers for it.

I tried using my Panerai Screwdriver (for switching out buckles) but that is too large to fit. Does anyone have any recommendations for screwdrivers that would be able to change the straps of this watch?

I see some places that the correct size is 1.4mm but according to research my Panerai Screwdriver is 1.4mm as well, which means it should theoretically work, but it doesn't.

I've found some Bergeon tools online as well. As well as APBands?

What do you think?

I keep meaning to get one of these but always seem to make do with two screwdrivers.

I actually bought one and returned it... 2 screwdrivers works too easily.

OP, congrats on your new Panda... I use 2 1.4mm Bergeon screwdrivers, and a Bergeon springbar tool.

Forgive my ignorance, but what exactly is that (not the screwdrivers)?

Thanks for the help guys! I will go look for 2 Bergeon 1.4mm Screwdrivers.

Theres a watch tool shop locally and they seem to stock the required tools!

Anyway, sadly, my Panda has gained 1 hour last night, and has stopped more than once since I bought it from the private seller.

I will be returning it today for a full refund. There might not be anything serious or there might be, but I am not taking any chances.

This is it:

Will be on the lookout for another Panda

Can anyone confirm that 1.4mm is the right size then?

I have a 1.4mm Screwdriver from my Panerai, but that one does not seem to fit :/

Thanks!

Bergeron 6730 Tool is kind of like having an extra set of hands...holding one end of the screw in place.

Probably better suited for a video, but...

The top portion of the base is padded. You set the watch on it's side aligning the screw with the screw driver head that comes out of the base of the Bergeron Tool. The height of the screwdriver head that comes out from the base is adjustable for different watches. That keeps the one side of the screw in place as you unscrew the other side...

But as others have said it can be done with 2 screwdrivers.

Thanks Thomas...I had never seen this gadget.

I have bought 2 Bergeon screwdrivers in the past but it's a bit of a pain to change...personally, while I change the straps/bracelets on everything else I own, on the AP I would rather stop by an AD or boutique and have them do it.

I probably would too...but after jumping into AP (now one of my favorite brands) - nearest AD is 6 hours away and I'm a chronic short strap user - I was forced to become self sufficient.
