For The Same Money: Daytona, AP ROC, or VC?

I'm developing a goal watch (already landed the grail watch).
For the same money, would you rather have a Rolex 116520 Daytona with a 4130 Rolex movement, or an Audemars Piguet 25860 Royal Oak chronograph (39mm) with a Frederic Piguet caliber 1185?
For the record, I have owned the Rolex, and it remains one of my top three favorite personally owned watches. Clearly I'm a chronograph nut. I did own an AP Moonphase but the dial wasn't my style. I did love the Royal Oak Genta-ness of the bracelet and case, so odds are I would love the AP ROC too.
Between the Daytona and ROC, which one and why? And who would throw in a VC Overseas chrono for a few bucks more and get that one instead? (Unsure if I like the VC or just appreciate that freakin' awesome bracelet integrating part of the Maltese cross logo).
Apologies to anyone who is put off by these "this-or-that" posts. It's a guilty pleasure of mine but I respect that it turns a lot of members "off." :) Thanks in advance!

Had a Daytona, and it was nice, but the other two are just in a different league.

I don't like the date placement on the ROC.

VC gets my vote. Very comfortable, and a perfect dial design. Plus the ease of going from bracelet, to leather, to rubber is very appealing.

To be honest, I like them all but love none. If Rolex would deliver on a ceramic steel Daytona.... Meh you know

I'm not sure of your Grail watch or your wearing preferences, but if forced to choose one by one, I'd probably go VC > AP (barely) > Daytona. My reasoning is for me the VC gives better WR (150m vs 50m vs 100m), better antimagnetic resistance, and a date (like the AP). To me the VC and AP are significantly easier to read than the Daytona, especially the newer 116520s which have the reflective subdials. The only downside to my older VC is there are no strap options which isn't a problem with the newer 49150 you're considering. So to me the VC has the most versatility for everyday wear including the water. But luckily I don't have to choose. You can't go wrong with any really.

Daytona and RO. Both great. If modern and Platona not an option I'd go AP/RO. There is an incredible beauty in the RO reference with the metal bracelet that is hard to explain. I would personally forget VC, don't think they can compete with the beauty of the other two, not to mention resale value on VC are awful

My vote is for the VC. I don't think it gets the respect it deserves. I personally love it. Perfect size, better water resistance and you can add a rubber strap (black dial+rubber strap looks awesome).

BTW--I love your 5980/1A. Think it would be a great combo with the VC

Expecting an AP lean, to be sure. But for whatever reason, I felt there would be more thoughtful, honest answers here. I expected much fan-boy Daytona bias on the Rolex forum. But I know many of the folks here who vote Daytona are capable of thinking outside the Rolex rainbow, and honestly prefer the Daytona to the AP and VC.
Surprised to see so much love for the VC. It must really be awesome in the metal.

The best versatility IMO is the black dial (not the grey dial) as it looks fantastic on the bracelet but even better with the black rubber strap.

Also the Overseas doesn't have the exposed bezel so it's not prone to as many obvious scratches as the ROC. It makes the VC much more of an option for daily wear. Again, combined with the rubber strap I think it's a winner

This was an easy one.

AP or VC.

I won't diss Rolex, but the Daytona isn't all that special IMHO. Both the VC overseas and the ROC are both amazing watches, and they look and feel much more expensive and special than the Daytona.

This thread has made me take a proper look at the Overseas chrono for the first time. Great layout, fantastic date, some really nice touches (5,15,25 digits & text on the subdials)....so why did they have to ruin the symmetry by making the chrono minute subdial larger than the other subdials?

It irks me as much as the date on the ROC....I can live with its position, but the digits should be horizontal. Just my 2 cents.

I voted AP while I love the Daytona a lot of dial presence is given to the tachymeter scale which, although I time things every day, I never use
