How "fat" is your Rolex? I weighed mine, pics.

Before all bar one go back into the Co. safe tomorrow I thought I'd weigh them for no sensible reason.

All prices in grammes.
Speedy Displayback

116518 on a day-to-day aftermarket strap/buckle so quite a few grammes less than normal.

"COSCY"

Milgauss

GMT (I have another two links in the box, unused)

Very nice pics, thanks for sharing Paul!

I thought the Daytona on leather strap would weigh more than it did, still a great looking combination of YG with black strap.

Great idea and collection Paul - thanks for sharing. I really like the Speedy.
I also appreciate the way you've listed them in ascending order.

I wonder what the difference between your Sub ND and a Sub Date would be. How much does a cyclops and a date ring weigh?

So the GMT weighs almost 3 times the Speedy.......

Better reinforce the floor under that fatty before it ends up in the basement.....

Lard -@rsed Dweller

I tried to weigh him using my powder balance, it was shaking under the strain

I thought to myself, "now I know who's been eating the pies in this house"

The culprit is caught out

3 extra grammes of blubber stuffed in that case somewhere

he's only 4 months old.

Looks like he's going on a strict exercise routine!

Well someone/thing in England needs to play football while we're busy not playing in Euro 2008!

Your scales look innacurate. You should take your watches to the butchers to get weighed!

I got 148 grams on the scales, weighing my SD. That's 1 gramm too much.

Hi Bo,
Mine, as per post above is 3g over?? I checked the scales are OK I wonder what such a weight difference in manufacturing could be about?

Yeah, that's strange. Although my scales are electronic, sometimes they do deviate a bit, but seldomly more than 1 gram. First time I got 147 grams. I then put my SD on the scales again and got 148 grams. 3rd. and 4th. time I also got 148 grams!

One explaining could be that if you have just washed the SD, some water can be trappped under the bezel. I know this per experience since sometimes it is tough to have the water stop running out from under the bezel onto the case sides, leaving stains on them.

It's quite interesting to see the various scales being used here in this thread. It got me thinking though.

Why do certain people need those scales.

I had just showered! It should be dried out by now, I'll nip off and re-weigh in a moment and come back with an update

I remember my big block Tudor weighing in 135 grams when I last measured it whilst at uni over 20 years ago. I also remember thinking that my EXPL 2 was a lightweight at 126 grams.

By the way Dan after seeing your magnificient photos a few weeks ago I had my watchmaker remove the SS bezel from my MC and I took it in to Rolex for a new replacement. I'm hoping that the watch comes back with a blue resin bezel as it was originally supplied with in 1983. I still have the SS bezel stashed away and am hoping that Rolex will not demand it's return prior to handing back the watch.

Good for you, Michael! Hope you get the results you want. That's why I decided to use my local watchmaker w/ Rolex parts account. Got to keep the original, nicely faded bezel insert AND get a new one too.
Great looking MC, btw.

I think that is the correct weight, Bo.....'cause I got the same weight with both the SDs I owned - all original links on, of course.
