First Rolex? From EBAY? Custom dial?
What could go wrong?

Don't mess with a fake red dial, it makes the whole watch look fake.

I can't answer your original question, can't tell for sure whether this is a legit Rolex or a fake one, someone with far more experience will chime in shortly, for sure.
I wouldn't buy this watch nonetheless, based on the following factors: The seller states this is a very very rare model, yet apparently it's a 2004 SS Submariner, so, nothing rare about that. Red Sub dials are from the 70's (or 60's?, can't remember) If anything they look good on the original dial but on a newer model it will only decrease its price. Last but not least, the Q&A section of the listing states the following: Q: Good evening by whom it has been customised 15-Aug-15 A: Hi, Thanks for looking. The dial has been created by an international renowned master dial restorer. He is recognised by many of the finest watch houses and has done a lot of commission works. The case and bracelet, watch movement etc have been serviced/polished by my own watch technicians. The watch is 100% genuine and authentic - 2004 F with UK papers. If that's the case then the watch should be considered a fake and be reported accordingly. If you're set on buying a red Submariner, may I suggest HQ Milton? They only sell vintage Rolexes. If you want a regular Sub you can still buy on ebay but I certainly wouldn't buy from a seller with only 500 transactions, you can check Beckertime or Watches24Seven which also sell on ebay and are far more reputable, not sure if they sell on the UK, though. Or try a trusted seller here, there's got to be one that sells/ships to UK. Again, sorry I didn't answer your original question, but I hope you'll find this info useful. |

Watch is likely authentic but an aftermarket dial/refinish. Devalues the watch and makes it hard to move. Find an all original watch For your first Rolex. Look at the trusted sellers here and get a solid deal on a known product and you won't have a any questions.

Thank you so much guys for your responses and lack of sarcastic comments for a newbie I did do some more research on this piece and confirmed exactly what has been said here genuine red rolex's are 200m rated and vintage not 2004 this just seems to be a sub someone has got a jewler to colour in the submariner name I shall keep looking on the sites recommended, I have a budget of around £3000 cash if anyone knows of a nice sub for sale
All the best Jack |

welcom to the forum ,,, without sounding smart i hope ,,, your 3/4 of the way to funding a nice sub ,,, dont fall at the last hurdle , if you buy something now that you can just afford you will find nicer and kick yourself for a long time to come , another thousand pounds would greatly widen your choices.

Looks to be a genuine Sub but unfortunately devalued with the dial modification.
