If you had to pick?
All 3 are 1985 and around the same price. I really favor the Explorer. I wanted to hear what some true enthusiast think.

Spend a little more, and get matte dial versions without the metal indices.......

I'd take the 16800 personally, there's nothing wrong with the gold indices, I personally prefer them over matte dials unless it's a Maxi dial. I'd suggest trying them on in person

I also prefer matte dial but for a nice specimen, u have to pay substantially more. Maybe get one of these and trade up later. For ur budget these r fine watches. Of the 3 I would also choose the sub. Price is a bit high but that patina is too die for.
I blame it on the autoconnect. |

Of those 3, the 16800 - no question.

For the Explorer II, indeed going with a matte 1655 is noticeably more. But matte 16800s and 16750/1675 can be found in the high $5K to low $6K range for solid examples. HQ Milton has a large selection of vintage, and those models cycle thru their inventory frequently.

24-hour hand on the 16550 looks jacked up. I think it's supposed to be red?
