Flipping a TT for a solid gold

How many people here have flipped their TTs for a solid gold piece? Which TT did you flip for which gold piece? How has your experience been? Pics will be appreciated

Is this the TT your in-laws gave you?

I will repeat again, don't do it.

Haha... You have a good memory I must say ... Well I'm not flipping. Just Seeing which people who have.. Interested in knowing why they did and how they feel about it

Got it.

I haven't done it, but it depends on what else is in my collection. At this stage in my career, I wouldn't want a YG watch as my one and only. It would be a fun nights and weekends watch.

But still, I say it's a no go in your situation! ;)

I recently got my first TT..a Bluesy Sub C. If the all YG model had been the same price then I would have gone for that.
If I had the difference in $ now I would keep the TT and buy an additional watch [or two] with it.

I have considered flipping my 116613b for the all gold version or the all gold ceramic black dialed GMT.

I did do a TT trade + cash for a YG Daytona and have been very pleased.

I have one more TT MOP Daytona at the watchmakers now and may flip it too if I could find a good Meteorite Daytona.

I think that some dial combos that are only on PM models may be the prime motive for me. But it's truly a personal choice.

Funny - have tried to pull the trigger myself. i like the weight of the all gold Sub/GMT but visually, feel the 116613LB looks better. I even had a few non-WIS friends come with me to rank them. First had them compare 116613LB sunburst vs 116618, they prefer the 13. Then I compare that against the 116718 green dial, and while they say the gold screams money, as they keep looking, they have all preferred the 116613LB. Even the sales woman (who knew I had the 116613LB) stated the TT looked better to her. Go figure.

I gave away a TT bluesy and then bought a YG bluesy.
Was very happy. YG Sub was a daily watch for over five years.
Then flipped it for cash and a Sea Dweller.

Ive thought about it but the only 2 that interest me are the WG Smurf but I just prefer the sunburst blue by a long shot and feel it looks a little boring compared to the Bluesy (yes I have compared them side by side many times.) The all YG Bluesy sure is pretty but way more YG then id ever want to wear so I guess Ill stick with my bluesy and save for maybe a WG Daytona or get the Platona for my 50th. Now if they release a WG Daytona with ceramic bezel that may be an option for my first PM. I just wish I could pull of YG as a full PM. It just seems WG isn't really gold as it does not come out of the earth white lol.

I always thought flipping gifts is in very poor taste. I would really think less of someone who flipped my gift. Granted, when I do give an expensive gift I always say "I have a receipt, so it is cool to replace it if you want a different color" or something (the seller provides this refund option always anyway if they know it is a gift). So in case of an expensive watch, I would be OK if someone flipped it for another watch (and not for something else). Obviously would not give a 10k watch to someone who is struggling to survive where a cash gift might make more sense. I hope you know what I mean. Don't flip a watch unless your gifters are cool with it from the getgo.

Not really a flip, but after I got my 116718 then my 16233 wasn't seeing much wrist time.
So off it went to a new home

It would be regrettable to not flip for those two beauties.

You realize, of course, that this photo simply stole the entire thread...
