What happens after going gold?

To all of the owners of all gold Rolex: what happens after you purchase one? Do you still want to wear SS or upgrade the entire collection to gold? I can only imagine after wearing one and experiencing the heft it would be difficult to go back...?

I have 5 digit day date and 16710 gmt II, and it's a perfect combo for me. You get in a gold mood so you roll with it for a while. Then you switch it up with SS.

I tend to wear the gmt more often (for various reasons), but I will always own and happily wear a day date. I've only had my bark president for a few years, but if it's been a bit since I last wore it, I still get that new watch excitement when I strap it on. It's the only watch that can still do that.

This was my first PM Rolex and then I bought two others. Not sure I will buy an SS again.

Makes wearing a SS seem like a toy; a lot to be said about the heft of a PM watch.

Still wear and appreciate SS pieces that I already own, but am much more likely to buy PM instead of SS in future as a result of the ownership experience

I bought my Hulk, Smurf and then my 1680 in that order. Each get equal wrist time and I reckon my next purchase will be to replace my BLNR that I flipped for my smurf.

Who knows what will grab your attention next!!

I still wear the all gold pieces in rotation. Depends on mood and most of the watches I like don't come in gold anyway.

Going gold with Rolex......led me to want to go to platinum....specifically the Platona.

Then I decided to try something different and try different brands. AP, Patek etc

So essentially going gold with Rolex made me move on to other brands.

Once I got the feel of full gold, I really loved the weight and so my SS models were worn less and less. I enjoyed the weight so much it pushed me to Platinum and now that is my favorite metal.....

There are some who jump directly to a Platinum Rolex while bypassing a gold Rolex altogether.

When you buy PM, it's the price barrier that's the biggest adjustment. After you've spent $20k+ on a PM Rolex, $30k for a Patek or Lange doesn't seem so outlandish.
