Oyster Flex/YM case integration or lack of
Sorry if this has been mentioned before, with traveling sometimes I miss points and entire discussions.
Has anyone been bothered by this? Just curious (not to insult the owners, clearly it did not bother them and I do not want to trash talk) why they didn't either make end links or a curved Rubber B/Everest style end which in my opinion would have looked proper. very rarely does something throw me like this did. |

I agree the new YM would look better if the strap end completely closed the gap with the case.
But perhaps doing so would somewhat limit articulation and prevent getting a better fit on the wrist? My Audemars ROO strap comes straight off the case and has virtually no articulation. If it could rotate a little, could perhaps conform a bit better around the wrist, though it doesn't really pose any problems now. |

Good point as that has been an issue I've had with fitted rubber straps, but then the RG ceramic Daytona end link and strap fitment always the same degree of articulation. |

RG Daytona and other Daytona References with the end links have always fitted Stellar and looks very well done!! Maybe it is the rubber and with the incorporated internal metal of the strap that would just not work with end links or to have it curved? I am sure there is a reason for this.

Good question!
Something I have also thought about but I haven't actually seen the watch in person to fully comment. It could be a design cue to give it a sporty look but then I personally find the RG ceramic Daytona still looks sporty with the end links on leather even more so on a RB strap so why they didn't use end links?! Another angle could be it was on purpose to differentiate themselves from the RB look?! Guess only the Rolex elves will know |

Recently this can up on the Dutch Rolex forum too.
I think that Rolex did this because you have more play while wearing the strap compared to the "fixed curved" end of the Rubber B strap.

Well now, that looks super. In terms of Steves OP. I hadn't noticed the lack of a "connection" until recently. It doesn't ruin the watch for me. I still thinks it's gorgeous. But I'm not sure I'm as interested as I once was. And frankly, I am a little surprised. It doesn't lol quite as finished as I would have thought.

Does it still have the rough finishing and serial number between the lugs? I don't like having this area exposed with non-integrated straps. But if Rolex spent some time to finish the entire case, this would not be an issue.

Bugs me at that price point...
I didn't like the rubber strap when I had it on...didn't seem right to me. Now, Rubber B will have one and that's easily added. To make the watch perfect...I'll wait for a rose gold bracelet |

I don't like the gap either but it wouldn't be a deal breaker by a long shot.

Steve, my guess is this would give it more play and added comfort. The integrated straps , while looking very nice, are extremely rigid and would probably not work well with the internal metal inserts. Don't let this deter you from buying this beauty. If this watch had Submariner in red it would be selling like hotcakes.

Maybe in the future I will revisit, I tend to change my mind as much as my socks and I still do not have a RG watch. Let's see in another 4 months:) |

I haven't handled one yet but I think that would bother me. Would have much rather seen it fully integrated into the case.

Huh...well what do you know, I missed that. Good catch, Steve.
Yeah, agree, is kind of a turn off for me. Not that I was in the market anyway... |

Interesting stuff, and very good catch Steve.
I also missed this when I handled one of these pieces recently. Each to their own, I have to confess this would bother me. |

Wow! Really happy to see so much feedback on the observation from so many members that I highly respect!! It is nice when a thread offers a vast array of opinions on a particular point.
I suppose a bracelet option may win over a few more of us:) |

I think it's perfectly fine. On a metal bracelet, end links are standard. Making a rubber strap look like it's connected to a metal case isn't necessary.

Hard to say Bill, it was very important for Rolex to do this on their DD models, some Pearlmasters and the Daytona. This is actually an anomaly in the lineup outside of the Cellini models.

The gap does not bother me a bit. It would look the same if I replaced the rubber strap with leather.
