Tudor 7021/0

Hope someone can shed some light on this roulette 7021/0 serial 760XXX from 1971. I really like it's beat up looks and enjoy wearing it. Should I change some of the service parts, like the seconds hand and bezel insert, that have probably been replaced in the last 10 years? Or leave it as it is and add my own dings and scratches in the next 45 years?

Hmmm. If you want to wear the "To the moon and back kicking and screaming" look (a look I happen to like) - leave it just as it is. Just don't pay top dollar and think you can bring it back to clean glory.

If you want a fine, clean example of an early Tudor Sub, look elsewhere.

So I guess it most depends on where you want to be: rugged "Guys, Hold my beer and watch this" or refined purist and pristine

I also love the beater look of the case and the flakes and bubbles on the dial. The early snowflakes look awesome because of the bubbling on the dial. The only problem that I have is that the bezel and second hand look much better than the rest of the watch.

Darn it .... there goes my ( self-decreed ) "King of the patina" crown

Call me crazy but the heavily patina'd old Tudor Subs really shout out to me. Looks like a particularly honest 7021/0.

Great macro pics too - nothing hidden away. It's a watch that has done some hard labour with plenty of life left in it.
That orange / brown lume ageing associated with this generation of Tudor is a really cool look I say .
The vintage leather sets it all off too

Looks like the lugs may have had a gentle freshen up in recent times No problem with that.
If you stick with that hand set though, perhaps consider getting the lume stabilised.

Thanks Paul. I'm also in love with it, in the past months it has hardly left my wrist.
Great idea about the hands, I just have to find someone that can work on them without destroying the lume.
Anyone know a good watchmaker/restorer near Munich that can work on the hands?

Beautiful watch, great pictures and stunning closeups. Love that coarse detail of the paint and tarmac like appearance of the upper script macro shot.

It may be rare but take your time to hunt for a seconds hand to match the other hands. The bezel insert is fine as it is even if its considerably newer than the rest of the watch, they are almost always replaced through a vintage watch's lifetime.

It would be wise to replace the plexiglass, seals, crown and tube if it's going anywhere near water.

BTW, what was the watch resting on? Is it bone, coral or fossilised churro?

Glad you like them. The watch is resting on deer antlers. They are way older than the watch. Did a couple of shots for my Instagram profile @orwochrom and I needed props.
It kind of fits, the submariner: perfect watch for hunters, just hose it to clean the blood, guts and mud.
Also had surgical equipment in the basement, but I'm saving that for an explorer.

Those are some of the best pics of any vintage watch I have come across! If you are second guessing it, i would be more than happy to pick it up :)

Really appreciate it @anirudh.412. I got quarantined by my family to the house I grew up in with an old digital camera. Just as I caught the flu my newborn arrived home, so I had to spend the next few weeks away from home. I had nothing to do, so I started photographing some of the watches I brought with me with the stuff I found in the basement.

You can see the aged impact on the printing. I think it was white and turned yellowish over time. Great watch
Thanks Harry. The paint on the letters looks really cool now, raised over the dial.
