Least Liked Rolex Line
Hey guys,
Just curious.... Besides Cellini, which Rolex Model Line do you like the least and why? |

For me, its probably still the Yacht Master II. Why? Because its the "clown master!!"
The design of the Yacht Master II is definitely growing on me though. I guess I just need to give the model some time. It is a very functional timepiece thats for sure.

I Love the Yacht Master 1, its only the Yacht Master II that I initially disliked. Its really hard to answer the question in terms of general models exactly because I like them all. There are just a few specific models that I may not be too fond of.

I never liked the oyster quartz models. I just don't like the way they look.

To those who do not really find the Oysterquartz attractive, I found this website to be a good read. It is completely dedicated to the OQ. I personally like the OQ myself, though I agree that the design could have been better.

IMO most of the prof models look fairly similar. The SD, SM, YM, GMT etc all have similar case and strap with slightly different coloured bezels / dials.
I guess its a well proven design so why change it too much. I tend to prefer these models over the DD etc. |

Concur of course. I just assumed these "nightmares" were automatically hated and we were judging among the least favorite mainstream models |

Yeah, I know. Well, the least liked for me would be the "Masterpiece" Day-Date line then.

X2!
I find any of the gemstone laden pieces from the Liberace Line to be ugly, pointless, gaudy, WAYYYY overpriced even at todays phony inflated commodities prices, and an overall abomination from a company that produces extremely fine and functional pieces 98% of the time. Why do they even make those? Perhaps the Dubai market keeps those monstrosities in business. After all, at the ridiculous markup of those pieces if you sold one every 5 years you would cover your production and labor costs. |

Would I buy a gem encrusted Rolex or Audemars, if money were no object? Probably not; not really my style. But it's a thing of beauty in its own right. Would I find a Rolex covered in diamonds ugly or otherwise "hate" it like a few here (hate for an inanimate object?!)? Nope. Is it resentment for things out of reach? Or for those who can afford them (and do wear - or, in your eyes, "flaunt" them)? Or a bit of both? |
