No more Airking dial.

I just heard that the Airking dial (printed on dial) is no longer made. When did this happen? What if anything do you think it will do to the appeal or value of these watches?

It was announced over a year ago. Watch will still be manufactured, but not called 'Airking' (nor this printed on dial)

Ys, it was talked about here more than a year ago. Basically the old Air King is now a 34mm OP. Can't call it an Air King any more.

Won't affect the value at all.

I, personally, never thought the OP 34mm needed it's own additional special name in the first place, but I understand why people will miss it.

Then you need to look up the story of the Air-King and it's place in Rolex's history.

Yeah, they only did it for 69 years so no big deal right?

Really dig the classic style of the Air King. Given its historical significance, it's disappointing to see it go (in a sense).

It reminds me of how Ben Hogan dressed. You could put his outfit on anyone, in any decade/century, and it would work.

Cheers,

Ben

Still don't see how Rolex benefits from killing a legend.... understand watch has not changed, that said I don't see the value increasing as a result.

Thank you for this. I have one on the way for my wife and wasn't too sure how it would look on a smaller wrist.
