Does this look real?

I have been emailing this guy on Craigslist. yea yea I know, but thanks for reminding me...

And he says this:
Quote:
Am selling my Rolex because i have a new one as a birthday gift some months ago and i really need $ now. I just move to MD for a new job and i have to spend from my pocket before my first pay. Find some pics to know what we are talking about

I asked if he would meet me at ROlex dealer...

So he want's $1800 What do you think?

Looks fishy...

$1800 is way too cheap and a red flag if it's too good to be true it probably is. What are those links/pieces by the box?

One of the tell signs on a TT is the SEL link which on most fakes is gold on the top but silver on the sides. This one appears to have the gold all around the SEL link and for the matter the rest of the gold links, but still could be a good wrap/overlay. The pics are not very good so it is hard to evaluate the dial. Meeting at the AD is a great idea. Rarely do we ever see legit deals like this on a Rolex.

OP, really dig your user name.

He could get 1800 bucks for a Yachtmaster like this at any decent pawnshop and he could pick it back up in 90 days when he gets his first "paycheck" he could sell it for 3 times that amount then...I would definitely have it checked out.

Offer him $1050, best and final... If he accepts, then you'll have peace of mind that it was a scam.

Regardless, I'd still say run.

I think there is a better chance the watch in the pics is real and the one he shows up with is fake.... or you know he could try to rob you when you come to get this one.

I apply the 3 second rule. Look at the picture for 3 seconds. If it immediately screams junk, then it usually is. Compare to Dr Tom's pic. Night and day difference.

A supposed two tone watch with a stainless crown? P.O.S.

Edit;even if crown is correct metal, if it looks too good to be true, .....

Sam, rule of thumb with Craigslist. People do NOT sell genuine high end Swiss watches there. Don't get burned my friend.

That's what I initially thought, but these do have SS crowns.

The crown looks too small
The hour hand looks weird
The endlinks look terrible
And the pics aren't very clear, if they were, the watch may look more fishy

Tell him to meet you at the AD if he says no, then it's likely a scam.

You can also offer him MORE with the request to meet in the lobby of your local police station. That right there will make all scammers run!

Bring a Bergeon and crack that SOB open =).

Watch looks fine to me, if there really is a watch. You however will probably end up without a watch and without the $1800...
