No Warranty Card ?

Two weeks ago I bought a DJ11 RHD DI dial from an AD in Sarasota, Florida. Its a reputed chain store but the watch did not come with a warranty card. When I asked about this, they said they do not keep the warranty card at the store and instead it will be mailed to my house in about 2 weeks. The Rolex booklet reads "Every Rolex watch comes with a warranty card that certifies its authenticity. This warranty card must be completed and dated by your Official Rolex Jeweler at the time of purchase."
I'm just wondering if mailing it out to the house is a new practice and if anyone else had similar experience at Mayors or at other stores?

Maybe they chain store keeps all their warranty cards in a different location and sends them to the customer after the sale is complete?

Just check the number on the card the number on the watch. Should be ok especially if you got the watch from a big name store.

Yeah thats a little weird as i've never heard an AD not give the warranty with the purchase on the day.

There seem to be quite a few Dealers who send the warranty card out after purchase..

Nothing unusual.

yes its always sent in the mail a few weeks later from my Mayors in Tampa no worries

I have heard of this, sometimes customs hold the watch hostage, so they ship them out separately, it's a lot easier to replace a warranty card than it is a watch.

I had a member over at WUS tell me how I should be outraged over my AD holding the card. Who cares? It'll be here in a couple weeks, I don't wear warranty cards.

Said in a PM I should take legal action.

Please explain? I can tell you fact; the watch AND warranty card are together in the plastic shipping coffin (box). Personally I find it offensive to buy a several thousand dollar timepiece at an AD and not walk out the door with the warranty card in my possession with date of purchase and my name on it.
This is merely a Bravo Sierra game played by some ADs. Hypothetically, what happens IF they happen to lose the card before it gets mailed to you or even more a possibility it gets lost in the mail? Opens up a new can of worms huh?

I was told that the watch and warranty card are shipped separately, due to it being more dangerous for a watch to be stuck in customs with its warranty card vs it not being with the warranty card. Worst case if the card gets lost or stolen, etc, the ad can void that warranty card and simply swipe another one and send it on its way.

it just happened to me as well. they told me that the warranty card would be ready for pick up after about 10 days from the purchase.what I was told is that the return policy is good for 10 days and therefore if they write your name on the card immediately after you buy and then return the watch they have to get a replacement card which is not easy to get.

I was told the same thing by my AD. They both ship separately. Having said that all three of my Rolexes came with the warranty card and I walked out the door with both. All of my Rolex watches were purchased in the Tampa Florida area from an AD.

That's not true at all. The card ships with the watch attached to the coffin, there's a spot where it snaps into place.

The only reason that an AD would do this has already been mentioned. They hold off on sending the card out until the return period has ended. It lets them keep the card open in case they need to resell the watch. Its a lot harder to sell a LNIB watch with someone else's name on the card.

Never heard of this. You want to check the serial number on the warranty card against the one on the watch before you pay. It's a basic rule of purchasing.

Quoted for truth.

So many OWTs regarding how Rolex ships watches and what their policies are. Most of them created by forum rumors, and ADs giving excuses and mixing up their own policies to Rolex policies.

I bought my 116613LB Sub C date Bluesey from Mayors in Florida also.
My warranty card came in the mail along with my appraisal certificate a few
weeks later ...

Normal. Got my SD at CD Peacock and they sent my warranty card within 10 days. Even sent it with a hand written card. Nice touch!

I have one dealer, that said he sold a Gold GMT, and that when the purchaser took it out into the sun he saw a blemish on the dial, and did not want to purchase watch. So it was refunded. Then said watch could not be sold as new because it left the store. I now could be sold at a big discount...

This doesn't sound right. If the watch was faulty the dealer would be able to return it to Rolex.

I want to be clear here. My AD in the Tampa area (NOT Mayors) did not say the card and the watch are shipped to them on different days just in different boxes. The watches are not shipped (at least to them they showed me) in the Rolex box. The watch itself comes in a plastic case with white foam for protection. The card I believe comes in the Rolex box. Anyway I can see what you guys mean about the 10 day return policy and them holding the card. It makes sense especially for Mayors.

The watches are shipped in the plastic "coffin" which has a clip where the warranty card attaches to.

Your AD uses some intermediate distributor who splits the cards and watches and then sends them to the AD separately. Rolex ships watches, stickers for the sleeve and the card together, and boxes separately.

Sorry, but that's not correct.

The only thing shipped separately are the boxes, the cards are snapped into place on the coffin. The reason why they wouldn't ship the cards with the boxes is that one box size is used for many different models. It would be a total waste of time if the AD had to search through 50 boxes to find the one that contains the correct warranty card for the specific watch someone is buying. It makes things a lot easier when the card is attached to the watch via the coffin.

Typically they have a 30 day return policy so they will wait until the window expires. I got my rep to send mine within 7 days as they no me and no I am not returning anything.
