+ The Last of Them. Winter is Incoming! +
The Last of the 5 Digits that is. A special incoming for me signifying the end of an era...
A white dial M series 16750 Explorer 2 c. 2008. As most of you know, the Explorer 2 was the last of the 5 digit models, and in an unusual move by Rolex, in the final couple of production years, they fitted them with the latest Rolex 3186 movement found in the current 6 digit models. Some of you would probably have guessed this would be my next reference, given my preference for the 5 digit references in steel. I feel so fortunate to get this watch, because I almost didn't. Months ago, I saw a local ad for this watch from a private seller. The watch was exactly what I wanted and because it was a private sale, the price was good with no silly premium on the 3186. We exchanged a few emails, but at the last minute the seller changed his mind and decided to keep the watch. Fast forward to a couple of days ago and the seller called me up, saying he was finally ready to let it go, honoring the price we previously agreed on. Full kit, like new, literally a safe queen. I actually met the seller at his bank and we pulled it from his safety deposit box. I did the various 3186 wiggle and hour tests just to be sure. It passed. Off goes the plastic, this baby is gonna be worn. Just in time for winter. Thanks for looking!

I like how in the first shot it's sneaking out and saying "hey." The Exp II keeps growing on me!

Great pics.
It is an excellent reference, sometimes under appreciated through no fault of it its own. I have a slightly older version P serial, it's a keeper.

That is the watch I would have in the dark, dreary, winter months. Beautiful choice, I quite like the white face.

Congrats Rob. It looks amazing and I do prefer this model over the current one as I love the red dial GMT hand. I had one for over 7 years. Amazing pictures as usual.
