Yachtmaster 2 quality issues? Any?

Hi All,

Considering going after the YM2 stainless model.

I was watching a few reviews on youtube. One reviewer mentioned that the movement in the model is quite tempermental. Is this true??? Something about if you play around with the countdown mechanism the "wrong way", you could end up screwing up the movement.

Anyone here who owns one find they have to keep sending this model back to the "shop" for repairs of any kind???

Please advise.

Thanks

Well I guess if you aren't running it properly of course it will break. Same with anything in the world.

I only hear good things from YM II owner. They seem to love it.

I have never heard of an issue with the watch. Just like anything else there will be issues at some point with mechanical items but this is not the issue with a vast majority.

I had a SS YMII for a while. Only issue I had- on 2 separate occasions, the bezel got stuck, and would not move. It eventually freed up after I let it sit overnight and no other issues ever arose. Pretty great watch

I'm only a month in, no issues. In fact it's keeping better time than any of my watches. I really don't play around too much with the timer though. It's an amazing watch.

Temperamental my a$$. It's a rock solid watch with a top notch movement...winds and sets easier than most of my collection.

Now, I will give you that some people don't understand how to use the bezel and programming function properly, so...draw your own conclusions.

I had a relatively minor issue with mine, which was bought brand new from an AD.

When I started the countdown timer, stopped it and reset it, the red seconds hand did not return to the perfectly vertical position - it was off by a whisker. This was barely noticeable but I knew it would bug me constantly and the AD agreed. They swapped it for another piece immediately which did not have that problem.

The replacement has worked flawlessly in the 6 months that I've owned it. Brilliant watch - highly recommended.

Was looking at the TT version in a London AD the other day and the salesperson was trying to demo the countdown timer, she couldn't get the pusher to work and called over another assistant who also tried it. She then said it must be faulty and went to get another from the safe, while she was gone I just turned the bezel to its home position and all worked fine, they didn't seem to understand that the bezel can be used to lock the pushers.
Apart from that a wonderful watch and next on my list.
