Birth year watch
Do any of you have a birth year watch? I was born in 1973 and am still looking for the perfect watch for me.

My birth year is 1959... and I like the Rolex Submariners.
Which means I won't be getting a birthyear watch. |

I had one, a 5513 Submariner, but I moved it. The problem with a birth year watch is that you stare on the one variable that is really not that important. The overall condition and quality of the watch is much more relevant.

HQ Milton in SF has tons of vintage watches and I suspect you can find your birth year watch there.
I found a birth year sub for my daughter there. Good luck |

I don't have one but I love the thought of having one.
If I do decide to go vintage some day I think it would be for a birth year piece. That is 1980 by the way.

I'd love a birth year Submariner (1967) but I could have a new TT Sub and change for a decent holiday for the price.

Yeah, I'm '73 and looking for one too. The closest I've found is an Omega Moonwatch from that year. Haven't bought it yet.

I would love to have a birth watch 1972 but as others mentioned for the price I could get a new, very reliable everyday piece, not sure a 1972 watch will be up there.

I like the idea of a birth year piece, for me it would be a 1971 Sub.

A black dial DJ from 1991 would do it for me.
Maybe next year I'll come across one. |

Birth year watch
Are you looking for the year a new watch was sold = to your birth year? Then find one where the owner saved the receipt.
Do you want one "assembled" in your birth year? Well then it's a bit of a crap shoot at serial numbers don't tell the whole story. The watch case could have sat around for some time - a few years? - beforehand. You'd only be pretending. The choice is yours if you are set on a "birth year" Rolex. |

I put a little spin on this. I got a 2006 16610LV since that was my son's birth year... someday it will be his birth year watch.

Lovely shots, gents, there is something mystical and romantic to having a BY watch for me, I would like one too one day, esp as I am born on the Day of Time.

That is a great DJ!. I would live to have that one. A birthdate Rolex is something that I have always thought would be fun but I have never pulled the trigger. |

Both from 1970, searched for the Red Sub for a year or so, two months later the 1675 was offered to me by a local guy who knew I liked vintage Rolex.

Here is my birth year watch (1965) - also happily this was my late father's Explorer which Rolex presented him with for his stills photography for their adverts in National Geographic back in the 1960's. Good luck hunting for yours
Dan
