Calculating the value/price of a watch?

How do you guys calculate the value/price of a watch?

My assumption is having as many price points of the same model and using that as a guide line.

To those with a large collection how often do you have it appraised and priced? For insurance purposes?

Welcome to the Forum!

Depends on the watch. Usually companies will do "new" model replacement.

When you get to the vintage side of the world, you can do purchase price with receipts at a minimum.

That make sense.

How do you go about pricing a watch you are looking to purchase?

Everyone has those price points that make either a deal or not. How we arrive to those prices varies.

Just interested in hearing different methods.

Research the "Bay" for "sold" items for the same model/year of production.

you can check the for sale section here as well, but remember those are "offered" prices. At least it gives you an idea of the range on the offered prices. Take into consideration, condition, service history, and accessories.
