What is the proper way to invite members to join your network? Do you blindly just send them an invitation or do you email them first and ask permission. I really want to branch out but I want to do it properly.

I'm linked too..I set it up because many of my colleagues have done so. The ability tobe recommended by my current/pervious managers is nice but aside from that not sure yet.
