It's a whole lot easier to make money when you break the law. Eventually the law catches up.

Isn't this just a damn Greek tragedy. Couldn't have happened to a more deserving weasel.

You don't want to be charged by the Feds. Their conviction rate is sky high.

I predict nothing will happen and in 3 weeks, people will have forgotten about the story and him. I might be wrong.

Love it! This was the biggest news story on the news and social media yesterday. He was so cocky about his decision about Daraprim that something beyond the pricing, didn't look right.

Karma is real and he is going away for a long time for his ponzi scheme and I imagine more will come his way.

This guy is a true d-bag. Don't want to judge by looks, but he looks like a d-bag as well. "Eyes are the window to the soul" definitely applies to this guy, and he's a d-bag.

I've met this guy at a party in NY. he knows a ton about finance, pop culture, medicine, tech and everything else under the sun. Bit abrasive but I liked him anyway.

Maybe he really is a criminal. I'll leave that to the courts. keep in mind that today's media/Internet is a runaway train of vilification and public shaming. And it tends to fact check only after the damage is done.

Good rule of thumb for this forum, if you are starting a post with "I don't want to get political" rethink what you are going to say cause it won't fly.

And your point is what exactly? That we're piling on, perhaps unfairly or as social media-lemmings?

This guy is a Class A Donkey. His arrogance and general demeanor are deplorable. I will not speak to his business practices.

My point is that he deserves a day in court.

In general I am against public shaming. It's haphazard and often unfair. Monica Lewinski and a guy named Jon Ronson gave great TED talks last year about public shaming and the mob mentality it brings out.

people are pretty ignorant as a mass.

they dont realize the cost to the end consumer was $10, up from $1. insurance companies, who rake it in hand over fist, took the brunt of the price increase.

When it comes down to it he does have a right to price his medication at any price. It just looked immoral as this specific medication is the only of its kind for a disease that doesn't have any other options.

Its a make more money vs. do the right thing kind of decision. If he chooses make more money thats his choice ultimately.

He got arrest for fraud not his inflation on the medication. He just a bad guy in my opinion.

He is scum and while yes, he deserves his day in court, keep in mind when the Feds take you away and charge you, their conviction rate is nearly impeccable.
I bet dollars to donuts, he will NOT have his day in court as will plea out before trial.

They in turn pass those costs on to the risk pools via increased premiums. No?

Bingo.

I'm more pissed about this clown buying a wu tang album all for himself and then bragging about not even listening to it.

You do realize his arrest and charges have nothing to do with the drug pricing, don't you?

But to your point, not all people have health insurance and even more don't have prescription coverage. Even then, not all co-pays are the same

i read the entire indictment i am aware. the people laughing and saying he deserves it are the ones who are upset about the drug price increase. he deserves it because he misappropriated funds from RTRX not because he raised the price of the drug. his fraud was ongoing from 2009 through the present. it isnt karma, it was simply a matter of time.

He resigned today from Turning and will probably resign from Kbio.

Couldn't disagree more, if you don't want to be ridiculed by the public stay out of the limelight!! Moreover don't take your cues from a woman who yes made a simple mistake that many woman her age do, however she didn't even have the sense to know the difference between making that mistake with a sitting US president and her English Lit professor? ML gets zero sympathy or respect from me and I wouldn't take ANYTHING she said seriously.

A public shaming in the right context is actually a good thing IMHO
