Forget ultra thin – that’s the 15202 model.

If you need more, there’s plenty on here and online in general – you just have to put the effort into finding it for yourself……just like which colour dial to choose on the 400.

the RO like the Patek Nautilus is most awesome when you stick to their roots, and that means BLUE DIAL !!!!!!!!

My choice would be and by far the Patek 5711, for many reasons, and if you really want AP then the 15202, followed by a 15300 but they are no longer made and the blue dials cost quite a bit, when I think I had the possibility of getting a mint blue dial 15300 for 8.900 euros, and got a Blancpain instead, wow was I f….. stupid on that one…..

Ok here's a few pics, 3 with 5711/15202 and one with the Patek 5712, my all time favorite Genta inspired 70's style SS "sports" watch, had it 1,5 years, and for me it's one of the greatest watches ever made, my objective is to get one back as soon as I can. Enjoy the pics

Just a little research here and you will get your answers, as for my own taste I will get the 15400 with white dial. It matches everything.

I know it's a question of taste but for me the blue dial of the RO's and the Nautiluses are so amazing I can't understand how someone would want another color than blue, for me the blue blows away any other color of these PP and AP...

The 15202 shares the most DNA with the original. Lacks a quickset, no screw down crown, no seconds hand, and has the prized JLC movement. It commands a huge premium over the modern 15300 and 15400. The 15300 at 39mm is discontinued and the 15400 is at 41 mm.

Personally, I think the 15300 is the sweet spot of size, usability, and price. Blue is the traditional color, but personally, I like the white, as it makes the waffle pattern a little more striking.

15400 black dial dresses up or down nicely and black dials make a watch appear a bit smaller so the 41mm doesn't look too big to me.

15400 - 41mm Royale Oak
15300 - 39mm Royale Oak (No longer made must buy used)
15202 - 39mm (ultra thin) Royal Oak

The best dial in most people eyes would be blue. After that its preferance if you want a silver dial (aka white) or a black dial.

Price is also a factor. The 15202 is around 6-8k more than the 15400.

Great summary. This should be a sticky.
