Need help on a rolex 4500
I was offered a Rolex 4500 but I am not sure if the dial has been retouched already (numbers on the sub dial at 3 o'clock looks darker) or if there are other red flags that I did not see. I am attaching the pictures for your perusal. I hope the community can help me decide whether to buy it or not. Thanks.

Looks fine to me. Movement is good, dial a bit distressed, but original.

??? here too!
Looks genuine from where I'm sitting. Dial is an old reprint, case has corrosion, movement appears genuine but with usual wear. A project, but do-able. MW |

4500
It looks like a 4500 that's had a hard life...
The pictures are not good enough to be sure about the dial.... the hour and minute hands look somewhat suspect |

Yep, the fresh pictures are a big improvement, and I'll swim over to join the probably-original dial team! Unfortunately, the corrosion in the case is a lot worse than expected...

I finally saw the watch in person and managed to take some better pictures as shown below. I also had my watchmaker check it and he said the dial is still original. Btw the serial number is 497xxx. Thanks for all the help again.

As I said before, rough, but original. The good news is that, for the right price, it is a project that can be completed, I would think. Even a dial could possibly be had . . . .

That is good to know that a used dial can still be found. Can someone like ABC Watchwerks clean the dial to make it more presentable?

The original dial is 99% or more of the value of this watch. Trying to clean it would simply destroy this value IMHO.

the hands seem to be relumed? the first pic you posted the hour hand's patina seem light and you can see the "X" in rolex through the minute hand. but the next batch of photos show both hands with black patina.

Thanks for the very sharp observation. I guess the seller relumed the hands before he sent them to me for inspection.

Just saw these and that was my first thought: These are two different watches. What does the watch-seller have to say about that?

Looks to be the same watch, but the better images appear to show some restoration has taken place...
