To brush or not to brush...This is the question

Been thinking about brushing the bracelet of my GMT2c for a while now. I've been holding off as I was thinking about flipping it for a Daytona. I've decided this is not possible now as I'd rather take the difference in price to do some traveling and other things. I know this is personal preference. I'm curious what my fellow TRF'ers preferences are.

I say no, leave them as is. Also do not be OC about them either. They do get swirls and that gives your watch great personality.

If those are the choices, then it's "Leave it as Rolex made it. PCLs add a nice touch," But the first part of that answer isn't really linked to the second part.

That is, I agree to leave it, but I don't agree that PCLs add a nice touch. They should have made it an option, but that's probably just too much of a pain in the neck for them, I suppose.

It's a pilot's watch so PCLs add a little touch of glamour.

I'd say do it only if it's a keeper. I'm not a fan of PCLs but would not modify a watch I do not intend to keep. I would think it would make it harder to flip

If I intended to keep it I would brush the bracelet. I'm not a fan of PCL's at all.

You brush it, you're taking metal off. You're making the watch lighter.

No problem you say? You can always polish them again? So, you do that and you're taking more metal off the bracelet.

Look, it's your watch, do what you want, but if you ever want to flip it, you have an obligation to the buyer to tell them that you molested the bracelet.

It's your watch, OP.

Do whatever you want with it.

I would brush if it was the black GMT.

I would leave the PCL of it was the black/blue.

Another option is to source another bracelet. I currently have my BLNR on the BCL and Glidelock bracelet from my SubC. This way if I ever need or want to go back to the PCL, it's a quick bracelet swap.

I thought about this, but not willing to fork out $2500 right now just for a bracelet.

I love the PCL's on my BLNR. It's one of the best aspects of the watch. I just do not understand the hate for them. Half of Rolexes lineup has them. The funniest is the people that say they hate the PCL's and the BLNR. Lol. Just buy the submariner and all is well. Better to live without the GMT function then to be miserable in life.

I think it looks great with brushed center links so yes.

Not mine btw (borrowed from Triplock here on TRF):

Don't do it, you will ruin the bracelet. It's up to you though.

How so? Does it tell better time when brushed? Does the brushed bracelet allow better spinning of the bezel? I get that many of you with older 16710s and earlier GMTs favor your brushed bracelets. But pcls don't make a modern GMT any less of a good tool for those who reference GMT for work and cross meridians frequently. And I'd go one further. As an airline pilot I wear a suit and tie every day to work. The pcls look great with a suit. Since you're asking, I prefer the 116710s in their polished glory.

Good god, calm down that man. It may look more tool like and so like the original, but I did not say it may it more effective as a tool. Almost every one agrees the PCL are more dressy and as such less tool like.

I hope you are calmer when in the pilots seat.

In the UK we have a different meaning of tool:)

If I were any calmer I'd be asleep. How did you read emotion into that? I think the often read statement here that the new references aren't tools is silly and I poked fun of that sentiment.
