Any love for Jules Audemars?
I've not looked at AP for a while since put the idea of a 15400 out of my mind.. I recently wanted to add a complicated watch to my collection and started looking at PP, Lange,VC and AP again.
I wasn't able to find many Jules Audemars topics here. Any opinions or experience with he Jules Audemars complications. Looking at a dual time/ perpetual. Mainly looking at how they are to live with and how they may compare to a equal price PP or VC. thanks! |

AP rules in luxury sports watches with little real competition. As for dressier watches, there are Patek, Lange, Journe, Laurent Ferrier, VC, etc... I like the complicated Jules Audemars models but can't imagine buying one instead of the other brands I've just mentioned.

AP for luxury sport watches but even though I like the Jules Audemars line there are better options in other brands. |

AP excels in sports prestige, and the Jules is a bit like the Cellini for Rolex, I'd look more at PP and Lange and JLC in this lane.

While some models are drop dead gorgeous, the residual value on them is awful unfortunately

AP doesn't do very well in the dress watch category. While the JA line have some nice models, IMHO, most pale in comparison to offerings from PP and Lange.

I actually like their appearance and had considered in the past but I agree with the others. There are other options and they don't keep value well

AP would not exist anymore IMO without their RO and ROO line, their dress models are nice but there are so much nicer ones from other brands, in the time I've been on this forum can't remember once when a member got an AP dress watch, always RO or ROO, for dress, PP, ALS, FPJ and a few others have so much nicer propositions than AP, you want a "sporty" dress watch you go PP Nautilus or AP RO, a sport watch you go ROlex, AP ROO or RM, a dress watch you don't go AP….

Thanks every one.. Great to have all these opinions. Its a shame that a brand with that history has boiled down to one model. I bet the watch makers there still want to make complicated movements and dress watches. Do agree that value retention and mass appeal is important.. Will look at the PP and VC alternatives |
