New 114060 -- question on fitting
Hello,
New to the forum but have been reading for awhile and really appreciate all the great info on here. I purchased a new 114060 from a local ad and really over the watch - have wanted one forever. Quick question, I had the watch fitted at the shop and they have it setup with 4 links at 6 o'clock and 5.5 at 12 o'clock. Does this sound right ? Thanks in advance for any insight ! Sounds like you have a small wrist..
You should almost always have fewer links on the 6 side than on the 12 side. It's just the way the wrist is built.. Smaller wrists are harder to fit because you can only go down to 4 links on either side..

there's no law that dictates how you wear it.
should be whatever gets the clasp square on the bottom of your wrist. for the most part, 4 on the 6 oclock side and 6 on the 12 oclock side seems to work. just wave (a la ms america) and if the watch is sitting square and comfortably on your wrist than that's fine. very few people actually wear 5 and 5 |

Strange, I have seen this come up in many threads and I guess I am out of the norm. The watch sits in the middle of my wrist and the clasp in the center of the bottom. I have 5 links at 6 o'clock and 5.5 links at 12 o'clock...

That's such a great watch. I really like the Sub and the Explorer I for their pared down to absolute basics aesthetic and their clean dials.

I would listen to the resident jeweler (if they are a good one of course) there is normally at least one, they know best, take into consideration everything from temperature, time of year to time of day (for expansion and such) and links... Then you have the micro adjustments... I like mine right a the start (1/4) in winter or 3/4 of the end in summer... So i can still adjust on the fly
Grat watch by the way! |

It all depends on how you like it to sit on your wrist. The general rule is more links on the 12 o'clock side as this mitigates the watch from rotating towards the outside.
GO with what the dealer suggests and you will know within a few days weather its perfect or you'd prefer a different configuration. ENJOY!!! |

From your photo it looks to me like you have 6.5 links on the 12 o'clock side. You have to count the one in the bracelet

Got it - that makes sense. Thanks for all the replies. Here is a wrist shot as it sits now.

Yes, that's normal to have less on the 6 o'clock side. And the fit looks great, so I think you're good to go. Do you have enough room to adjust the glide lock in and out?
Oh, and I forgot...congrats! Great watch. |

I didnt like the 4 links on one side so i put the half link on the 6 side and it is so much better feeling and more centered. So it is 4.5 on 6 o clock and 5 links on the 12 side for my config. small wrist hard to size some watches

Here is the clasp - not sure if I captured it correctly. Couple slots left on the glide lock to make it bigger - but not a lot. If I tighten the glide lock all the way - I can't get the watch on. Love the watch and it seems to fit pretty well -- just curious more than anything if I should try other combinations with the links? Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

In my opinion: If you need to shorten it so that the count is uneven have one less on the 6 side, but the most important thing is that it's comfortable for you. Look perfect from the pictures.

I have four and an add on 1/2 link on the 6 side and six links on the 12 side. This gives me the extra adjustment I want in warm weather conditions and it helps center the clasp for me.

Just to close the loop in case anyone is interested and it helps someone in the future:
I had a half link moved from noon to six yesterday and it feels like a different watch. Incredibly comfortable, I don't think there were enough links at 6 previously to move the clasp far enough over on the bottom of my wrist. Feels great now -- final configuration is: 5.5 (plus slide link) at noon 4.5 at 6 Thanks ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
