I did it... scratched my ROO 44 Bezel. Please help

Hi Forum,

Was in a meeting the other day and was glancing at my AP. Thought I spotted a lunch time stain and tried to rub it off the bezel. However, the stain did not go away. On closer inspection, it looks like I have scratched my ceramic bezel. Does anyone know how to remove this?

Im ok to live with it, if the only fix is to replace the bezel.

Andrew

Sorry to hear that! But pictures would be great, so people who are knowledgable about these things can determine if it can be taken out! I hope it would

ok you talk about stain, when you pass your finger nail on it, don't worry nails shouldn't do a thing to it, you feel something? As far as I know ceramic is a very scratch and stain free material though it can happen if it's put in contact with certain products or materials as hard or harder than CE. I had for 3 years a sub c, well after 2+ it started to look very dull, don't really know how to explain it but it didn't look nice at all, I had 3 other Rolexes with ceramic bezels to compare and the difference was obvious, but to my understanding AP CE IS much better than Rolex CE…
I agree pics would help not bad, I don't know of any way you can fix ceramic, if I am not wrong the only way is replacement, if it's the case I'm very sorry for you as I would be like crazy of it would happen to mine

I was told ceramic is very hard. Just wondering what scratched the bezel.

Here's a pic. I am using a phone camera, so I can't get a good close-up. Can you see the mark on the bezel near the 5?

It's probably residue of something you hit it against. Try to rub it with tooth paste or a pencil eraser.

No harm to you Andrew, but that photo is about as useful and helpful as a chocolate fireguard!
On the premise that it’s a typical transfer of metal onto the brushed ceramic area (which acts like a file) then this may solve it – http://www.viridiangold.com/how-to-c...amic-ring.html
I also have in my head something about a rubber (eraser!), especially the more abrasive bluey-grey end, rubbed with the grain.

Hopefully either of those will sort it out.

Thank you so much. Brasso worked like a charm.

Toothpaste, eraser, soap and water are all no way near as effective as good old Brasso and a soft cloth. My AP bezel is pristine. Thank you so much. Clearly a very knowledgeable collective on this board.

Glad to see that it worked out well for you. This is an interesting trick for sure.

Do you still have plastic on the watch case or am I imagining this?

Andrew, was it ACTUALLY a scratch and the Brasso removed it? Or was it just a scuff/mark?

Glad Brasso did it for you. Let's see an "after" picture.

I'm not too familiar with Brasso, but i do know a "pen eraser" (the more gritty, grey/silver eraser) erased a scratch on my middle case from a titanium pin buckle that rubbed up against it.

I'm pretty sure you are imagining this

I guess it was fragments of metal stuck in the fine grooves in the ceramic. When I looked under a non-natural light, I would see the reflective brushed finish looked flawless, even on the bezel edge. So this led me to believe that the bezel wasn't scratched. Without the Brasso, it would have been near impossible to remove IMO.

Well.. there was a cake fight at the home and the AP hit a wall quite abruptly after I was hit with a 4 layer cake. I only purchased the watch a month ago, haven't bothered to send it into clearwater yet...doesn't run slow/fast however there could be problems on the inside that i'm unaware of.

not upset about it, purchased to wear not sit and collect dust

Wow, that is quite a crack!
I assume the bezel struck the wall very hard?
And the wall was made of stone or something similarly hard?
