Las Vegas

Had a great time in Vegas this past holiday weekend!

Got to visit the AP boutique

They had recently sold their blue 15400 and ROC, but the black dial watches looked and felt great on my wrist
The 44mm RG has so much wrist presence (and heft)!
The 44mm ceramic is very shiny

One customer was wearing a blue dial RB, another a 44mm forged carbon, and 3 women were looking at gold/diamond models, and I think purchased at least one

Also visited the RM boutique, but no pics allowed
The Black Phantom 011 is very cool

The watch stores in the Wynn and Palazzo also had great eye candy
Wanted to see the new IWC Timezoner chronograph, but not yet available

However, didn't see any interesting watches in the wild, not even at the higher limit tables

Sounds like a good time.

Never seen the ROC steel on a strap like that. Yours? City of sails end links?

Not my ROC
It's at the boutique, on that strap, with a deployant
Looked great with that strap/dial combo

Still haven't been able to try on the 44RG. Love the one.

That's got to be a new addition to the RO lineup. Never seen the ROC SS on strap.

Well a couple of possible explanations-- 1) Needed to go to high end tables when the guests first arrived--- perhaps all the pieces were already at the pawn stores; 2) You need to get invited to the private tables..

Las Vegas

I've only been there once. Nice sales girl - and a security guy. She was keen to let me try on a white diver and anything I wanted. She also complimented my blue dial 15300 - but she thought it was a Jumbo 😆

I asked for a catalog and she nicely obliged.

Looking forward to a trip later this year. I think Sunday around lunch time is a mellow time to go.

I popped in the Richard Mille store. I was the only one there (wearing my AP) but no one offered to help. They did say good bye tho. Maybe I should have tried to take a picture? 😬

Both stores are owned/run by Westime out of LA. Don't feel bad, I walked into RM with an RM and it was ice cold service.

As we know Vegas is a good place to window shop, not buy.

Ah yes. I heard of the Westime connection.

Ouch, really? Ice cold service - to a RM Customer? Wow. Sorry to hear.

Must be salaried help / no sales incentive or bonus?

I think being a retail salesperson in LV is probably a terrible job. The amount of traffic and tire kickers is probably insane. I have found help in general pretty poor in LV.

Hit or miss no matter the brand (tends to be really good or really bad).

Yes...agree re: Tire Kickers. I do hope sales folks get paid decently.

Having said that, RM has such an exclusive brand to protect. I would have hoped his margins would have allowed for better help.

I agree they get a lot of tire kickers but until recently the LV shops did a lot of sales with Asian foreigners especially those from China. With the recent Chinese economy but more importantly the crackdown on corruption-- such sales are down.
However, I do believe the sales folks get bonuses or a small commission on each sale. I have a friend who works at a high end retailer and I don't remember exact amount but it is something like 1 or 2 percent on a sale or some straight dollar amount dependent on the price of the item.

I agree. Probably a real feast or famine from the salespersons perspective. I would imagine they run into folks that just won big and want to spend it and a fair share of intoxicated folks with high enough CC limits to swing a purchase. Maybe not at the RM store but at the others I am sure.
