Who wears their ROO at the pool?
Hello... another question for the forum. New AP owner here... the 44 ROO in rose gold. Who here wears their Royal Oak Offshore to the pool? When I'm at a nice resort pool like in Miami or Vegas I like wearing a nice watch. My new AP watch would look badass poolside. However last year I took my white Panerai Laminor Marina 1950 to a few resort pools. I noticed after these trips that the anti-reflective coating somehow got permanently etched by the pool chemicals or minerals. Looks like water stains if you look at a certain angle... not very noticeable but I know they're there. I will likely need to have to have the crystal replaced at some point. Anyone have experience with this and their AP and anti-reflective coating? I'm thinking I can just rinse the watch off with bottled water and wipe down after getting out of the water each time??

Hey, Let me say welcome and congrats on your new purchase!! and to reply to your question, I take my AP to the pool occasionally (probably once or twice a month) but i have not notice any stain on the crystal at all. Each time after dipping into the pool, I clean my AP with soap while taking a bath. no problem so far.

I'm also unaware of any PAMs with AG coating on the outside. The ROO has AG coating only on the inside of the main crystal, so should have no issues with pool water chemicals. It appears to have AG coating on the top of the magnifying glass on top of the date, hence the bluish tint of reflections on that magnifier, but that's inside the watch so is obviously not at risk. Because of minor swirls I had on a Breitling and an Omega with external AG coating, I try avoid watches with such coatings. Enjoy your beautiful new watch! Looking forward to poolside pics! |

I've swam/jet ski in the ocean/pool with my RG ROO no issues, I'd suggest washing it off with fresh water after however.

Congrats on the new purchase!
I haven't taken my ROO to the pool that many times. But a sales representative at the AP boutique in Miami told me that it should be fine and that I should just wash it with some soap and fresh water afterwards. |

Who wears their ROO at the pool?
It can easily handle it and you can wash it off.
But just cause a Bentley has the Audi Quattro 4 wheel drive system doesn't mean it should be used like a Jeep :) |

If I had one I'd be super careful. I'm not careful at the beach/pool/vacation..

I just cannot bring myself to put such an expensive watch underwater. I usually wear my Sinn UTC856 when at the pool.

I wore the ceramic diver on a jet ski. Also have worn pateks in the pool with no issues. May or may not have single handedly won a competitive pool volleyball showdown with my aquanaut on. I should note I was the only player over 6 feet tall
I would just rinse after under a sink or with a bottle of water. |

Hot tub? Always heard it was bad for the rubber joints as it dries them up. I wear my CE diver pool and sea, but always rinse it under fresh water after getting it wet to take off salt and pool products, you should be fine |

OK... cool thanks guys. I bet I had my Panerai at a saltwater pool and allowed drops of water to sun-bake into the crystal. Probably not good for any watch. BTW here is my Panerai 1950 (PAM499) from a pool cabana at the the Fountainebleau Miami. Thought this white Panerai was an awesome pool watch until I discovered the 44 ROO... lol. I will definitely be bringing my AP to the Fountainebleau when I go back this spring!

Also the alternative is often setting it on a table or someplace else where it's more likely it could be damaged or worse stolen. |

would be worried about pressing the chrono pushers by accident even though i have never accidentally pressed them in my life
kind of like when people unplug their electrical appliances before they go on holiday in case the TV for some reason catches fire

as per a guy at the AP store in Miami, chlorine or sea water can make the rose gold a bit darker. so its not recommended .

I'd love to wear mine, but for some strange reason I think it looks overkill at the pool/beach wearing a bathing suit. This thread may be a game changer for me...

I'm sure it may discolor, but that would certainly take a while. I'm sure it's safe for the occasional dip.

I would never take any chrono in a pool unless it has screw down pushers.

I never wear mine (44 FC) to the beach/pool. I got a BP fifty Fathoms for that.
However, this week, I wore my AP skiing! First time offloading with it! All good. |
