New AP owner question
Hey guys, I'm new here and just got my first AP. I got the ROC and I need to take 2 links out. I don't live near an authorized dealer and was wondering if you would trust someone else with it or if they even could. I'm going to Vegas in a couple weeks so I can always wait until I get there if I need to. Thanks for the help!!

When I got my PP 5712 the watchmaker at Wempe, which is a Patek AD broke his screwdriver in the process, it's a miracle he did not scratch horribly the bracelet, so I would wait, if they do waste some links you should get some new ones free, from an independant don't think so, even if they can do it

I was in a similar situation when I bought my 5711 and needed up having my local Rolex watchmaker do it. It's a walk in the park for any watchmaker with tools.
Do not! Do not! Let a sales associate at a non AP AD take your watch in the back without making it very clear the value of the item and ease of scratching the finish. Often times sales associates will do it themselves, which is fine for a tag but not for an AP at a non AD IMHO |

Have you ever used a screwdriver?
If yes, then you can do it yourself.

Many ADs of mid to upper level brands should be able to do it for you without problem. Waiting a couple of weeks to bring it to Vegas is of course also an option.
But if you choose to do it yourself, you may need to heat the bracelet with a hair dryer to soften the Loctite that is typically on the screws when it comes from AP. |

Congrats on the ROC!!!
You may be better off doing the sizing yourself No one will be as careful as you And you may find that after sizing, you'll need further adjustments |

Correct sized screw-driver and same painters tape is all you need. Maybe a hair-dryer if you need to heat it up prior if they are stubborn.

Congrats! I purchased a diver but this was a close second. Well 2b, as the ROO was my real second. The girlfriend said the ROC was small on my wrist. I beautiful piece though. After thinking about what I would do, Wait the two weeks. Best to be safe and for two weeks, well worth the wait. 2 Months I might chance it.

Sorry couldn't help myself.

Bracelet links no problem. If you ever find yourself removing the plots to change from SS to croc or leather strap, then have a AD do it. Those screw slots are slightly thicker than regular Bergeon screwdrivers and AP uses loctite on them so its easy to mess them up or slip. After the 1st time, the loctite isn't an issue so they will come out easily.

Go for it and do it yourself. Just be careful, you can use painters tape if you're afraid of scratching anything. Also, as already mentioned a lighter will take care of the locite if it's giving you any troubles.

I would go to a watch repair place that has good reviews and ask if they can do it. And to be very carful. If they scratch it they can be liable as you specified that they need to know how to do it and to be careful with it.
I personally couldn't wait till my trip to vegas to wear my watch but if you can wait then thats probably your safest bet.

Loctite is a glue like paste used to prevent screws from backing out unexpectedly. It is used on Rolex bracelets not sure about your diver but Hal will probably know.

WAIT for Vegas. These guys chiming in probably popped their cherries on a Seiko many many years ago. That's a fancy watch man, what's another 14 days. This comes from a novice that has botched a few too screw heads.
