Personally I don't think that Invicta makes a dive watch the quality of a Seiko etc.

The 9937 is a Homage watch replicating a Sub, but the cost is a lot less. The Invicta line definitely has it's following.

Here is a review of the watch when it first appeared in 2002

This is an excellent reference Tools is referring you to, but remember the 9937no longer has an ETA 2824 movement. It is still Swiss made but I can't rember the exact maker. Sela??? It is a 26 Jewel movement instead of 25 and they are supposed to be solid. Just don't know, but they are really nice looking and apparently well made movements.

I like Seiko 5's a lot and they are very solid if you are talking a 7s26 or a 7s36 mvmt. They are 21 and 23 jewles respectively, and a tremendous watch for the dollar, but many you see will have folded metal links versus solid, and I personally don't care for that. Just find what you like and look for ones in the 150 up range. Those are usually the ones with better bracelets etc. I truly love Seiko 5 and the superior line in particular, but you will have to go overseas for the best selection of the better models. It miffs me that they don't market them more over here, but batteries are easier to find here than in the jungles of Asia I guess is why they don't.

Personally, I think if you want a Sub looking watch it's very, very hard to beat the 9937 for the money. If you do get one, be sure to get the coin bezel (IMO they much are nicer looking) and look around for the best price. Ebay is a great place for Invicta prices and selection.....just the opposite for Rolex. Hope this helps.

Here's a diver for you as well:

http://www.rgmwatches.com/300.html

It's price point is pretty good I think. It looks very well made as well. I have an RGM 160M Chronograph. They make nice watches.

I didn't really catch your price limit but this one is nice.

My Invicta has the Miyota movement, see through back, a scalloped bezel, same dial but with the 'tail' on the second hand and 'Japan
movt' . It has been on the winder untouched for about 6 months and is +80 seconds.

Have a look at www.mkiiwatches.com. Bill has a number of configurations using the 2824 movement and priced where you want it. They're excellent watches, and unsurpassed for the money.

I agree. In fact I have one and the bezel which is supposed to turn but does not. Brand new out of the box. Their customer service is so bad I refuse to send it in. I will have a watchmaker I have dealt with in the past fix it one of these days. But most likely I will not wear it anyway.

Best Regards,

Thomas Carey

Thomas, I had an Invicta Pro Diver with the same problem, the bezel was very tight. I knew that I couldn't be the first to have this problem, so I looked for a solution on Google. An Invicta owner stated that he fixed his by applying olive oil and turning the bezel. After it turns freely, wash with soap and water to remove the olive oil. The olive oil works great and won't harm anything. I did the same, and it turns great, even though my watch has the Omega inspired scalloped bezel.

Say thanks so much for the tip! =) But most likely I will still send it to my watchmaker and have it time it as well so she is spot on. =)

Best Regards,

Orient makes a diver that is a little more "Sub-like" than the Seiko, but less so than Invicta. It's a solid watch.
