17013 battery life

I just won a 17013 at auction (pending a conditional knockdown ).
What's the battery life on the OQ?
Does this need to be serviced liked a mechanical watch?
I will post incoming photos once I receive it (fingers crossed).

Batteries usually last 3-4 years on a movement that is oiled and free moving. They are super expensive to service if the electronics go out so hopefully it was recently serviced.
They are not complicated to fix.
The problem is two-fold.
1. It has a mechanical construction that will wear when not serviced and Rolex does not supply spares so you are on that hook.
2. Rolex service will not repair anything in the electronics and will only replace the unit. Although it ís repairable, you cannot get spares so you are on that hook.

In other words, enjoy it, wear it and replace the battery when it dies.

I replace the battery around the two year mark. As stated they are expensive to fix so a leaky battery can cost you a small fortune. They will last longer but the cost is minimal so I am proactive about changing it.

I did not see that coming. If the conditional knockdown is declined I will ask these questions for the next one I find.

Had my OQ serviced by the RSC last year. They guaranteed the battery for two years.

I think two years are minimum shelf life for the OQ battery. Mines already more than 2 years and still running.

I own 2 OQ's (17000 both) incredible watches. RSC in Mexico changes the battery for free. I imagine others do as well. Batteries have lasted from 3 to 5 years

Conditional Knockdown was approved and should get this baby in the next few days.
I didn't notice during the auction that the case back was engraved.
Three questions:
If I have this polished off will it decrease the resale value?
If I get a brand new case back(assuming Rolex sells them) will it decrease value?
Does anyone know where I can find a vintage case back for sale?

I am an oysterquartz fan and personally own a 17013 with champagne dial. But these watches are so undervalued I would not worry about resale value, JMHO.

I would take your watch to a trusted independent watchmaker and see what he advises about the caseback.

You're probably right on the value. I can't believe there are only 25K of these in the wild.

I have 3 of them and the batteries all go at least 3 years. I got my first one as a graduation present in 1984 and it went 26 years before its first factory service. They are amazing watches and you can spot them easily in a crowd - which averages less than once a year.

Update:Just replaced the battery. It lasted 1.5 years. Its shorter than I expected but that's OK.

Leave the case back engraving - it's part of the watch's history and you don't see it when you wear it. After all, isn't that part of the appeal of vintage?
