New addition coming
Well, I have done a lot in this silly illness. I have owned several Rolex, SS & PM. Done the AP thing, Pateks, Vacheron, Lange tried to have some fiscal sense about what I was spending my money on.
I have decided while I appreciate so many of these pieces my love is really in sport watches. Right now my 5980R sees daylight a fair bit, YG GMTII does too, even the SS Daytona and PAM 233 get regular outings. Here is where the flaming can begin, I am truly bored by so many watches now. No need to wear boring watches. How many stainless Rolex's can someone get excited about? At one time I owned 3 subs (WG, TT & Green) how redundant. Are Submariners really that cool? The Lange's, beautiful, magnificent works of art and great function too. I truly appreciate them for what they are. They just aren't fun watches. AP's love em big bold, fantastic pieces, history they have it all. Pateks are great but as late with rare exception they are becoming too 'non-exceptional'. Too many references just do nothing for me at all anymore. There are some killers but they are the older ones. Where is all this going? I need something different to keep me excited, something in a new direction. A new brand to focus on and develop a passion for what they do and how they do it. One of the enjoyable parts of this illness (it's not a hobby, it's an illness, no hobby is this crazy), is all the learning we do and people we build relationships with along the way. I have a new brand I am introducing to my stable which I am most excited about. Certainly there will be many who roll their eyes but this brand needs to be appreciated for what they are. Incoming thread to be opened very soon. |

Can't wait.
I too found I was listening to others to much and not going with my heart. We are likely leagues apart on the watches we like but I know exactly what you mean in your statements above. Getting that excitement back is what matters!!! |

Oh awesome, I also went through what you describe in a way, also had 3 SS Rolex, hulk, batman and sub c date, boring, 3 pams, 028, still have it but it's for sale, 082 and 233 dot dial, but didn't like the lack of comfort once I got my first PP nautilus, the 5712 which I absolutely adored, will get it back soon, a 5726, didn't love that one, found the strap and grey dial to be very boring next to the 5712, plus a gold Daytona on strap, a Blancpain L-Evolution alarm GMT, still have it but selling it as well, now I have 5 but 2 I never wear, omega and Cartier, keeping them for sentimental values and for my kid in a few years, the 2 on sale and the ceramic AP diver, very fun watch for me, and I also like sporty or sporty dressy like the 5712, and I did consider a RM for some time, was also between a 35-01 or a 055, but decided I am not yet comfortable wearing a flat on my wrist, where I've been living for 6 months, lived in all 9 years but had the stupid idea of going back to Paris for 3 years, hated it, with the crisis you can have a really cool flat of 70-80 square meters for that price, 6 years ago you would of had a horrible piece of crap for that price but I do love those 2 RM and like with other watches as time goes your limits go further...
In any case huge congrats, in the "normally priced" RM models you chose IMO one of the 2 best, can't imagine with that level of lightweight and comfort how you could ever wear a Rolex or Pam after that, even the 5712 killed those 2 brands for me in that regard |

Had to check back in as I love this pic (already commented on the other post). Just a friggin awesome piece. If funds were no issue this would definitely be a watch that I must own.
