Enable me...closing in on the 15400
I posted a few weeks ago that I was close to adding the JLC Grande Ultra Thin Duo to the collection. It's a fine watch indeed. But the Royal Oak (specifically the black dial in SS) is just on a different level, has always been on the short list and at some point, I would want to add. They are harder to come by and of course there is the price delta. Totally different watches but I'm thinking the RO would be a more versatile piece for me (usually in a suit or business casual during the week).
Got the call/text from my friend at an AD that they just got one in. Music to my ears! As a repeat customer and a referral source for him, he's given me an offer that I think is quite competitive...almost too good to pass on honestly. I've tried it on in the past but as with bracelet watches, it's really tough to get a good sense/feel of the fit without sizing it properly (not that I would expect an AD to do that for me!) Pic of the RO and the ROC on my wrist below. And the RO on leather strap too which I was able to achieve a good fit with. Wrist is relatively flat and is about 6.75". What do you guys think? For all of you lucky owners and with about the same wrist size... any thoughts on the 'final' fit on the wrist? Any 1.5 links needed or were you able to find a sweet spot with just the removal of links? Enabling pics encouraged of course. Thanks in advance for everyone's help. |

Go for it, the RO bracelet and clasp are just about the best there are, and it looks great on you.

Looks great!!!! I got an awesome fit on my 15400 and ordered the 1.5 link for the summer as I like the watch a bit looser in the hot weather

Get it!!! All 3 of those are awesome references --- no bad choice.
The RO is a staple -- and the bracelet is amazing. I think you should be able to get a great fit by just removing links vs. messing with the 1.5 link... Looking forward to the incoming!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If you want it and you're happy with the way it looks on your wrist, go for it! That's all that matters when buying a watch for yourself. For me it does look a fraction big on you - the RO generally wears big of course because of the bracelet/lug design, so the 41mm version really demands a 7 inch plus wrist for a good fit in my opinion.

Thanks for all the replies, everyone. I had a ROO (Black Themes) in the past and yeah, it definitely wore big on me, hence the slight hesitation on my end...but I think that it was mostly due more to the thickness vs. the dial being 42. Can anyone comment on the 'length' of the ROO vs 15400? I assume the 15400 is shorter having smaller dial.
As a reference, I have a 114060 (40mm) and I think the fit is just about perfect for me. On the opposite end of the spectrum, I've got a PAM 510 (44mm) which is definitely a large watch but I think the short lugs make it fit nicely on the wrist. So the 15400 should be more than fine, right?!?!? Apologize in advance for seemingly like I'm overthinking this decision! I just want to get it right! Thank you again for you additional thoughts & comments! |

Just do it! I have it and it is literally a perfect watch. At 41mm, it's wide enough to look great with short sleeves, but it's still so thin that it slides right underneath the cuffs on my shirt.
I traded my Daytona and cash for it. My only regret was not flipping it earlier. If you are looking for some enabling pics, checkout my Instagram page.
