Upgrading the Collection - Daytona or Sub?

I already have a decent Sea, Air, Land collection (Black Bay, GMT, 79170 Big Block), but I have an itch to get a new watch, and I need to scratch it. My intent was to upgrade either the Black Bay or the Big Block to either a Sub C or a SS Daytona.

The Black Bay (Red) is a great watch, and is essentially my weekend beater. Upgrading to a Submariner would be simple enough, and I'm certain it would get a lot of wrist time (It would go on a NATO, and essentially stay there).

I'm really torn on the Daytona v. Big Block. I absolutely love the Big Block, but I rarely wear it because I don't want to beat the hell out of it (it's in fantastic condition), and it sits a little to high to fit under dress shirts. The Daytona would be much sleeker, and would compete day to day with my GMT BLNR for wrist time.

The obvious answer is to get both, but if it's just one, which is the one to get? I'm truly torn...

If I have to choose between a Daytona & a Sub, Daytona would always win.

I would go with a Daytona. I love my SubC on NATO, but my BBN gets more wrist time right now... And I'm looking to add a Daytona to my collection so that's my opinion. Plus you said the gib block doesn't fit under cuffs for you.

I'd say Daytona, but wait until after the new models come out at Basel next week.....I strongly suspect a new Daytona (prob a PM, BUT maybe a SS)....

You already have a BLNR and BB so I'd vote Daytona.

I will eat my hat if they release a SS Daytona next week. Will be solid gold. 2018 for SS Daytona ceramic earliest IMO.

Wouldn't you have the same concern with the Daytona?

Not really. They are still making the Daytona, but they aren't making any more Big Blocks, so I feel a little guilty every time I bump it in to something...

Sub.

The only thing that's kept me so far from having a Daytona is the lack of date so I'd hold on to the Big Block.

Hard to beat but at least $3k more than a sub.

My Daytona gets more wrist time than my Sub. But don't get it if your not going to wear it.

I got tired of waiting for the new Daytona...

So... I guess I have a Big Block 79170 on the market... :)

Could not be happier!
