The Real Question About the New Ceramic Dayonta
Alright so 99% of the forum and watch world is in agreement that this piece is a home run.
It's pretty much what we've all been asking for since ceramic bezels were introduced. I for one am ready to pull the trigger. That white dial is just Pricing was spilled on Hodinkee coming in at right under $12K USD. Now here's the real question: How will Rolex allocate these pieces? Will Rolex supply them in similar numbers to their previous Daytona production... If so we are in trouble.

There's no reason to believe that Rolex would change the way they produce Daytonas, but no one expected ceramic to hit stainless steel models this year, so who knows? It's all a guessing game, and will remain so for a very long time.
Also, the word you're looking for is "agreement." |

The demand for these is going to be so high that I probably won't live long enough to acquire one.

My AD promised me the first one in.
First Explorer as well. Glad I've done a lot of business with them and established a good relationship.

Bought my black ss last year at retail. So i guess closest thing to a discount is to get another soda and pocket some mints when i pick this one up from AD.

I agree. Could be wrong, but I don't think it will be allocated like the previous Daytona's. As many have said, this is something many have been waiting for (for years). With sales in the watch industry down, this would be one way to alleviate poor sales. I don't know about flood, but perhaps like a normal SS model (if not like standard SS, maybe like blnr or lv at least)?

Plenty of new / LNIB SS Daytonas available from trusted sellers, ebay, international ADs, etc. for the past few years.

I hope they don't flood the market but am hoping that they are at least attainable within a reasonable period.

I honestly wouldn't be opposed and may even prefer to purchase from a trusted seller on TRF just for the ease of the transaction. Just nervous about production limits and allocation to dealers.

I'm pretty sure for 1, 2 or even more years Rolex will limit production on the new Daytona to generate (even more) hype. Not so much limiting to prevent making crazy $$ on it though :)) But, from Rolex's perspective, a potential customer visiting an AD to get a steel Daytona, who cannot be served, but can be talked into a TT or PM Daytona is a sweet deal...

I'd be very surprised if the pricing was flat - no change from the prior model's $12k price. Be very happy with it, but surprised. |

I expect them to be virtually unattainable for the first year to two out, then the availability will be just like it is now. Readily available on grey market and certain AD's.

This is why you're the man. What did I tell you at Mortons? You're the most positive person I've come across

I would hope so. That makes the most sense for Rolex anyway. Increasing production to a popular model will bring more revenue to the company. Limiting them will take the company longer to recoup R&D, production and marketing cost, not to mention potential loss of sales revenue. Supply and demand model doesn't apply to Rolex. Daytona SS won't be less valuable when there are more of them for purchase. Look at Submariner SS. You can find one at every store and the price is still going up.
