Decisions...
So I need your advice, I currently have an AP ROO Elephant 26470ST that Im thinking of selling to get 2 Rolex (probably a Hulk and a DJII 18k black romans) and have some money left. And my decision is based on that the AP being a superb watch it is also very delicate, just thinking that I might ding the bezel (my other watches bang around the walls) will make the watch decrease its resell value, right now the AP is like new condition so wanna take advantage of that, but then I look at it and it is so nice that makes me think once, twice...infinite times about doing it...first world problems

You can ding a rolex bezel too if you hit it hard enough. Or the ceramic bezel could shatter or pop out on your sub. I wouldn't base a decision on this alone.

I'd hold on the the AP and practice a little wrist awareness.

Don't look back. You just focus your collection on the ones with the ceramic bezel, if sport watches are considered.

I understand what you're saying mate and that's probably why I have 6 Rolex, 1 PP, and 0 AP...I'll likely pick up a 42mm ROO (black/red) and 15202, but that's for next year or my Mrs. will kill me!!
You've tried the AP and now you're moving to Rolex....as long as you buy/sell at reasonable prices you won't lose your shirt.

I have an AP Royal Oak 15400 and the bezel has a couple of visible scratches which I dont mind because I know when I send it in for service, it will return as BNIB. So, dont sweat it.

I have the same watch. There are definitely days I opt to wear a different watch depending on the activities. Is it really all that fragile? I mean yes, I can see why the bezel could scratch easily but are we talking just cosmetics here or are you concerned about the watch in general? PArts, pushers, crown, movement, etc?
I've had no issues wearing my watch with some good wrist awareness. In about a month I've worn my AP A LOT more than the YM2 I trade for it, which I had for 3-4 months. |

A SS bezel can be refinished or replaced pretty reasonably, so, I wouldn't.
On another note, if you buy a new car, do you just leave it in the garage so it stays perfect? |

Obviously they're meant to be driven, but if you have the good fortune of owning strictly luxury vehicles you probably only use them on perfect days! I'm bike less now but owned motorcycles for years. That to me was a strictly luxury item, I would not ever ride unless the weather was perfect. Of course there'd still be wear on the bike, but cutting out winter months in NY and generally bad weather days my bikes always remained pristine! |

Motorcycles are different, it's dangerous to ride in the rain or snow... Not to mention, 5 mins in the rain, equates to 2 hours cleaning the bike. |

Hahaha thanks guys for your input. I usually wear my watches daily on rotation. After all I guess the AP is a keeper after a long thought, I think I would only switch it for a 15400 blue boutique or a gold case black dial and leather. I just need to be careful, and actually Im gonna invest in it. Right now I have the original grey hornback that came with it and got a black rubber band (for daily use purposes) thinking on adding an SS bracelet...does anyone have an AP ROO SS on a bracelet? Is it comfortable?
PD: today is the Elephant day off

I got rid of my 26170 because I just couldn't keep it in the condition I wanted (wear my watches for any activity). Perhaps I'll get another at some point, but going strictly ceramic Rolex for the time being (BLNR, HULK, and new Daytona whenever I get one).

I have the titanium grey themes ROO on a bracelet and it's one of the most comfortable watches that I own (caveat is I've never worn a steel AP on a bracelet before). BTW I wear my watch everywhere (Vegas/Miami/NYC..etc) and it still looks great. They are meant to be worn!!!!!!!!!!1

Exactly, or if it's really a problem for you then get one with a ceramic bezel, but please don't downgrade from AP to Rolex, I had the hulk, my God what a huge difference between my ce diver and the green thing, even for 2 would not do it
And how about a ceramic AP? Either the diver or a 44? After 1 year my ce diver is new, I must say it's very very cool |

Glad to see you are keeping it.
Getting rid of a beauty for something more durable is like not dating the hot girl for fear that she will break your heart.

Lmao! I agree. I wear my diver daily. Currently on the bracelet. Heavy for the first week and now I do t think twice. I've also have the rubber and a gator strap to switch it up. I like Rolex, although I've never owned one. I have had many panerai's and omegas and still love them. I'll get other but I doubt I'll replace my AP with anything but another or a pp. Thanks, Everett AP 15710 Diver Sent from my iPhone |

Scratches will most likely tend to bother you less and less as you go. Anything that's new of course you'll want to baby a bit (watch, car, bike) but once you've used it a bit you tend to care less about them. If you're seriously thinking about selling, you can always send it in for service and a polishing and it will look brand new
