Details on early 93150 bracelets
Hello vintage experts!
As some of you are probably aware, I am currently undertaking a restoration of a early white dial 1680. Yes, I committed to going white with the 3.9m serial and found a very nice correct Mk I dial for it that is on the way as I type this. Anyway, moving along, I believe this era would have a very early 93150 bracelet. These have the solid links (with 93150 stamped on the last link)that are screw-adjustable but with a clasp very similar to the 9315 clasp with a smooth flip lock and the side adjustment holes are all in line. Also no "9315" (or 93150 for that matter)stamped on the blade of the clasp and no date code stamp either. My question is to the deeper details. On these clasps, there was no date code, I'm reasonably certain of that, but also there was not a "pinch" in the side of the clasp body to keep the diver's extension tucked into the clasp, correct? The 9315 clasps tend to have a model number stamp, date code stamp and also this "pinch" detail on the side, at least as near as I can tell. So the question is, can the experts/owners chime in with their wisdom and maybe some photos to confirm or correct me on these details? I want to get the correct bracelet for the watch, as I am taking great pain to get the other details correct on it as well. Thanks in advance for any and all comments! PS the correct end links would be good to confirm as well! I think these were 580's... |

My 3.86 million, white-lettered Submariner 1680 came with a 93150 bracelet. Below are some photos. I'm curious where you received all of your vintage clasp and dating info since my very early 93150 is dated (1 76) and has the indent on the fliplock to allow it to properly close and lock.
As far as dating 93150s, I believe I have read somewhere that the 93150 was introduced around 1975, and elsewhere I have read it was 1976 but I've never seen anything to substantiate the true introduction year. I will say that the earliest dated clasp code that I have seen is 1 76.

Thanks Springer.
Imagine that bracelet without the side locks and with no date code. Maybe the version I'm thinking of was 1975? |

My somewhat limited experience of the early 93150 bracelets are just like springers, the clasp you are showing looks odd without the indentations. As far as I know the 9315 bracelets had those too.

No model number inside either.
Most 9315 and 93150's Ive seen are identified inside the clasp... |

Jim, the clasp in your photo looks like a later clasp.
