It depends where you are I think - in the UK you'll be doing well to get 15%, 10 is more likely.

i guess those who report 25-30% are foreigners who consider VAT rebate to be a discount

And what about the boutique pieces? Like the 15400 blue dial? What kind of discount can I expect?

None — that's why I despise the whole own-brand boutique culture the industry has been pursuing.

Iconic has a very good rep, as well as Hackett watches — should you decide to forego only buying from an AD, otherwise look on AP's site for the list of ADs and start ringing them.

Every AD is different, mines would give a few hundred quid off and even then would need to be squeezed for that. I think 10% is the max you'll generally get off as they don't sit in the window long.

Iconic I can vouch for. Dom Hackett has a good rep but twice now I have called him and he has gone off to find a watch and I have never heard back.

That's a stretch but there was definitely a huge dip in prices during the financial crisis a few months ago. In Jan I got a killer deal on a RO from Halgene in NY with no sales tax collected. Call some of the dealers on Chrono24, I'm confident you could score one for $13000 bnib.

Does anyone have any guidance what (if any) discount is available on the 15202ST? I've seen a few at the Boutiques but they are holding to a zero discount policy.

Thx.

When I got my ce diver which is a piece that european AP boutiques rarely gave discount on I got 10%, but I was dealing with the director of the AP showroom, a member here contacted them a month later about a 15400, not sure what dial and they said no way for a discount, really depends who you talk to IMO

I was told that for a black dial, strictly no discount on a blue though.

You guys claiming 30% off at a dealer must be much better negotiators than me...

I think its more relationship related than anything. My entire family buys their watches from the same AD. They sell Rolex, AP, Patek, JLC, VC, Piaget, Tudor, etc. So we never need to visit any other AD. Therefore they always give us the best discounts. And minimal waiting. My Daytona arrived 2 weeks after i had asked for it. If your relationship with your AD is good, they may order an item just so you can take a look at it. This type of service is not unique to just my family or this AD. Especially popular items, because if you dont buy it they can always sell it to somebody else.

But from what i understand, 30% is not unusual. I can see alot of people in this thread are shocked

Different countries are accustomed to giving different discounts also. This should also be taken into account.

You cant compare the discount an AD in NYC gives to another AD in Taiwan. The social-economic average status of their clients are different.
