Advice for purchasing a Rolex today

Good morning everyone, I've been a very long time forum lurker and decided to make an account yesterday as i'm planning to purchase a watch from an AD in Des Moines today.

I'm just looking for advice and tips for dealing with the AD. I'm in love with the 16610 sub. I have visited them once before just to look and they offered to sell it at 5% of the $8550 sticker price, so it would cost me $8100 out the door. I'm really getting 11% +/- accounting for the sales tax. Is this a fair deal? i will have cash in hand, so should i offer less? This is my first time at a jewelry store, let alone a Rolex AD.

Do you mean the 116610? (The ceramic Sub?)

To me 5% off retail from an AD for a very popular stainless steel Sub sounds good

5% off seems pretty good to me (atleast it is over this side of the pond!)

Welcome Wes.

I just checked the price of that watch here on DavidSW. $7,675

At your price of $8,100, go get it at the AD.

Don't forget to post some pics.

Don't think the price between AD and Grey dealer is enough to not go with the AD. Now pre loved might be worth looking into.
Good luck and enjoy.

Sounds like a solid deal. I think for your first Rolex and as a present to yourself buying new from the AD is the way to go.

Congrats and looking forward to pictures!

Completely respect your opinion though I don't share it. $7,600 and no sales tax from a trusted seller here is plenty of incentive not to spend close to $9K, inclusive of a 5% discount, out the door from an AD, more at MSRP.

But, it's all relative and dependent on personal sensibilities. In the end, decades down the road, it's not gonna matter much.

5% off a Sub 116610 from an Official Rolex Jeweler is a steal! Grab that bad boy! And welcome!

I would buy from davidsw.com and get it for about 1k cheaper. Super easy and great guy to deal with.

Some people value the AD "Experience" me personally don't think its very special and honestly my knowledge of rolex watches exceeds theres so there isnt much they can tell me that i don't already know. So i prefer to save the money and grow my collection.

Decent deal if you have no relationship with the AD.

My friend just bought one at a AD a few months back and Paid $8000 OTD.
That honestly seems like the average price a AD would be willing to go.

Enjoy

$8100 out the door? That's ok, especially if u want the "AD experience" (whatever that is. Lol)

If it's $8100 plus tax, I would buy nib at lower price from davidSW (or other trusted sellers)

It's a first watch. The AD is the way to go at that price. Good luck and of coarse, it never happened until that wrist shot picture shows up on the forum. Good luck, enjoy and congrats for your new addition.

used vs new....

if it is 8100 out the door then I would say go for it.
Grey dealers are charging 7600 for a BNIB piece so not really much of a savings.
