ADVICE / INPUT REQUESTED: 1680 Red

Hello experts/enthusiasts, wanted to get some opinions/input on a red 1680. The case has had lots of polishing (5 o'clock lug is especially thin), the upper crown guard is much thinner than the other but I think the dial/hands are great and wanted to see what others thought. The watch is a 2.38m serial which I believe puts it in the Mark V range (since it's not a meters first) but the dial appears to be a Mark IV? Can I get your thoughts?

Also, the insert is service...it is authentic though, right?

Maybe it is the picture but is there bubbling on dial between 10 and 11 markers and around 1 o clock. Insert is service?

PASS on this one. That case is ruined from the lug.

Thanks gents. My feelings have been validated. I know laser welding is frowned upon by most but for a case like this and considering it is a red, would letting ABC work their magic just be a bad move (assuming the 1680 is purchased at a fair price all things considered).

I found the "enlarged" pearl hole interesting. It appears it was drilled out for the wrong pearl on that service bezel insert.

The photo doesn't really show the lugs. :-/

The only way to get a real idea of what is going on is to shoot photos without a strap dead on looking into the space between on both sides, a top down shot the same way and the back side the same way.

Thanks, did not notice that...I'm passing on this one. Price is $8k and too many "interesting" things about the watch.

Agree. I asked for more pics following my original post which were better and enough to show the guards/lugs being way too polished.
