[Last Week's] Incoming...!!
Hey Folks-
Just another 'Incoming' thread for you all. I'm a long time lurker (five years on TRF yesterday, apparently). Started visiting a lot more after I first saw (and fell in love with) the BLNR in a magazine ad probably about 2.5 years ago. Figured it was unlikely I'd be able to convince my wife then that it would be fine to spend close to $9k on a watch (we had just bought a house and had a 1 year-old at home). So I would kinda just browse the forums and internet for pics and videos. Fast forward to last year. I was approaching a milestone birthday and thoughts of a new BLNR filled my head. I loved other references, but this was the one I was absolutely set on. Being a huge aviation/plane geek (wanted to be a pilot growing up), I wanted either a pilot's watch or GMT - something with a tie-in to aviation. Along with Rolex, I looked at pieces from IWC, Zenith, Bremont and others. But I kept going back to the BLNR. It checked off everything, and the blue especially just does it for me. Shopped around a bit (thanks to those who answered my questions via PM and especially to SSCosmo) and finally pulled the trigger. It was such a tease, though...the deal went through on a Wednesday morning. The catch was that I was scheduled to leave Thursday morning for a flight to Vancouver. Luckily, my flight was delayed a few hours - just enough time to catch Fedex as they dropped off my package! The watch came in mid-day. I was able to snap a few pictures (almost all stickers still intact as you can see from the picture) before I left for the airport. I decided not to bring it on my trip (four days of snowboarding up in Whistler), so I had to wait until I got home Monday night to admire my new purchase. I did make sure to greet my wife and daughter when I got home before I pulled it out again! Anyways, very happy to have this in my possession - it's definitely a keeper. Thanks for reading - cheers!
