Refurbished Band- MY comes through
When I got my used Datejust last month it came with 2 bands, a damaged gold TT Rolex Jubiliee band which was in bad shape and an aftermarket Jubilee band with gold filled links. The Rolex band had broken center links 3 or 4, and was stretched pretty badly. I didn't like the aftermarket bands, so I decided to contact Michael Young to get the band repaired. After several emails back/forth he offered to swap me a fully reconditioned band in like new condition plus some cash for my old band. I was concerned since several of the links in my band were broken that more were about to break after the service and I would be fighting a losing battle. I sent the band to Hong Kong by FedEx and about 10 days later I received this band (see photos). The new band is sturdy, tight and really looks great. It is a great improvement over what I had purchased, I am happy with the swap It cost more than a repair would of, but in the end I am very happy with the decision.
Michael only seems to answer emails once or twice a week. His communications are slow, but as many have said on this forum, he does nice work. |

Hopefully he can fix the one I traded in for someone else who needs one. My guess is that he will use it for parts.

Did the swap get you one that somewhat matches the era the DJ's head was made?

That's a great option since restoration can take a while. Especially if there is no particular sentimental attachment to the original bracelet and watch combination.

Thanks. It did cost a premium over repairing it, but if you are in a hurry or need a new band this is a good option. I wasn't in a hurry, my band was shot and didn't want to risk having multiple repairs over a few years. A HECK of a lot cheaper than a new band!
