Need some input with my collection

Looking to switch up my collections a little bit and wanted to get some feedback. So I have a few options I have been running in my head.

Current collection is AP RO RG silver dial on leather strap, Rolex GMT TT, couple vintage pieces (one VC one Rolex) and a couple Carl F Bucherer that I wear for beaters and under the radar.

I am looking to add a rubber band watch, leaning toward AP Diver black dial or VC Chrono black or blue dial with blue rubber, old version.

Also looking to move the GMT to a SS Rolex. If I don’t go blue dial VC would be looking to add blue dial, something like the Rolex Day Just II WG bezel.

I do not want a Rolex Daytona, some reason they just don’t sing to me like some of the other pieces.

So break down of options and what my lineup would look like.

AP RO, GMT TT, VC Chrono blue dial
AP RO, GMT TT, AP Diver
AP RO, Day Just II blue dial, AP Diver
AP RO, Day just II blue dial, VC Chrono black dial
AP RO, GMT SS, VC Chrono blue dial
AP RO and other options.

Couple things to remember I want a rubber strap watch and my main reason behind getting another piece so that needs to fit into the puzzle. Looking to spend no more then $15k. Other than that I am open to feedback!

I am not asking for a decision on what to do just trying to see if I am missing anything.

Cheers!

Sticking with the models you’ve mentioned, I’m going to go suggest:

Blue DJ II and VCO Chrono (49150) of a couple of types…
https://www.chrono24.co.uk/vacheronc...-id4213287.htm
https://www.chrono24.co.uk/vacheronc...-id4358320.htm – your neck of the woods, so easier to visit and haggle hard in light of the above.
https://www.chrono24.co.uk/vacheronc...-id3818069.htm – better pictures from another seller
https://www.chrono24.co.uk/vacheronc...-id3881184.htm

Those have been offered since they are a bit different from the usual 49150, including the blue.
The bracelet will set you back another $2200, iirc – and it’s a great bracelet, but whether you’ll bother to chop and change often enough to justify is another matter.

I LOVE THE OVERSEAS. I've never seen it in person in stainless, only in rose gold. But a gorgeous and very understated watch.

If you're looking for rubber, I'd def take a look at the Patek 5167 Aquanaut. I think they go for 16-17K pre owned, so it's stretching the budget a little, but would leave you with a cool AP/PP duo.

Now for the alternatives…

https://www.chrono24.co.uk/bulgari/o...-id3870867.htm – if the Maserati tie-in isn’t off-putting or leather strap.
https://www.chrono24.co.uk/bulgari/o...-id3472518.htm – just in case you fancied something a bit different

If you’re not au fait with the Octos – just know that they were designed originally by Gerald Genta under his own brand name, which Bvlgari purchased (as well as Daniel Roth) in 1999.

https://www.chrono24.co.uk/hublot/bi...-id4228267.htm – only because it’s tantalum (not to be confused with titanium) and it’ll have a number of the members running for their Xanax!

*Be careful when checking out other Pershings – the newer version is 44.5-45mm, not the 42mm of the ones linked.

AP Diver or used Aquanaut. VCO needs to be on (MC) bracelet for me, like ROs and Rolexes too.

if a ceramic diver was possible, too expensive, I would say AP, but in this case the VC, about the PP 5167, I really like the RG but the SS kind of leaves me cold, while the 5711 Nautilus is amazing, I think the VC looks better than the SS Aquanaut, it's very nice but not enough for me to put 16-17k pre owned, what about this limited edition? http://www.chrono24.com/en/vacheronc...-id4298850.htm

I'd go AP Diver or used PP Aquanat. I never really liked the VC Overseas.

I would move the GMT Rolex for a YM Blue dial, GMT BLNR, or the DSSD James Cameron. All beautiful pieces.

Tough choices. First world problems....

Compare the case of the overseas with that of any Royal Oak/offshore and the decision should be easy. Looking at the overseas case from the side I formed the opinion that it must be pressed from sheet metal rather than carved from a solid block like the AP. I was really keen on a L.E overseas but close scrutiny of the case put me off.

Same, looked at the gold version when I was shopping for the RO but never checked out the SS.

I have and as much as I would love to add a PP that model just seems like I would be cheating myself if I was to step into a PP.

Wow, thanks for all the input! I have made the mistake of buying an "off the radar" brand (Bucherer) and learned my lease.

Im with you! I checked that version out and after looking at it a bunch of times I am not sure it appeals to me like the other two VCs.

Its funny how some love the OS and some hate it, there is no middle ground.

One of my Carl F Bucherer looks very similar to the YM, so that is what is keeping me from that model. Not a fan of the BLNR. I like the DSSD, I will keep my eye out for one of those!

First world problems, I hear yeah!

Really? Good input, never noticed that. Anyone have any input on that?

Thanks again everyone for the help, still trying to figure this out.

For people that have both the Diver and OS, what can you tell me about comfort of the two? The diver not have the deployment, bothers me a little.

Really??? Never saw one in real but I was thinking that being made by VC they should be of superior quality.

You ask about the comfort of the diver, the ceramic is incredibly comfortable, so since it is the same in SS I would imagine the comfort to be very good but much heavier. I was about to put you this for your 3; AP RO, GMT SS, VC Chrono blue dial, but the post from Ash above makes me think twice, I would need to see it to decide really but I believe him if he says the case is strangely built, so that would be very problematic for me if the case is not made from one block but from sheets of metal, but I do really like the old version with the Big Date, one thing is sure get rid of the Rolex TT, either get a SS one, or anything else but at least in the same metal, I never liked Rolex TT

I'd vote for adding the Blue VC Chrono. You already have an AP and would this would add a Chrono to your collection. I have tried the OS on and I love the soft rubber strap and big date. The blue is a plus as well very sporty and great for summer wear. It also allows for other strap options if you should decide to switch it up.

You want a rubber strap it really doesn't get much better than a ceramic Rolex sport watch on an Everest Bands rubber strap:

Outside of those, the blue VC OS Chrono is on my short list as well. Good luck!

Looks nice!!
How do they compare to RubberB?!
I've never heard of this company "Everest." Approx cost?

They're around $200 or so depending if you want the tang buckle or the strap you can use on your own deployant (I have a green one to use on the glidelock for the Hulk and it's amazing) - I have RubberB before for the DSSD and the BLNR and I personally prefer the look/fit/durability of the Everest. Just a more robust strap material to go with the ruggedness of a Rolex sport watch.

Buy right though, and you can enjoy having something different from the usual suspects without too much financial pain.

This has me really thinking now about the VC.

You don't like the TT? I think it is a sharp watch but doesn't fit my needs right now.

For now I am going to hold onto the GMT.

I am going to pick one, let me know your thoughts.

Don't want to share prices but VC overseas black dial in the cheapest and I am showing what the difference is over that one watch.

VC Overseas black dial on bracelet (used like new with warranty left)
VC Overseas blue dial on rubber (used like new with warranty left) + $800
AP Diver old version (new from AD)+ $2000
AP Diver new version (new from AD) + $3200

I would stick to AP if possible, old or new version is more personal , meaning paying the extra 1,200 might be justified to some and others might not care about the clear caseback.

If u gotta a go with VC, I would go Blue.

Good luck

No to be honest I really don't like Rolex TT, the TT Nautilus is ok, some AP also, as well as other brands when the different tone is done in a delicate way, the Rolex TT's are really not for me, but in Europe, France especially, they have very little success, we mostly like white metals, other types of gold less and the TT's really are not what french people like, anyways it's a taste question, if you love something and someone doesn't, it doesn't matter, what does is for you to like it

I’d go with the black, purely for the patterning – the blue just doesn’t pop as much as other brands’ dials often do.
I’d say blue dial duty is best left to the DJ II, which you may still swap out with the GMT, if not just right now.

I would go with either your fourth or fifth options. I think the VC is a must, and the previous gen is a great watch that you can grab at a great price. Let us know what you decide!

I am going AP! Got a great deal on a new one I can't turn down. Now the only thing is, $1000 between the new version and the previous. Is it worth it to have the new one? I may find myself trading/selling this in the new year or so.
