Which one is a better deal? HELP!!
I have to offers on the table from private sellers/friends. I'm trying to figure out which one to get..
1. 2016 submariner No-date 114060, mint condition, bought two months ago with 5 year warranty - $6,000 2. 2012 submariner Date 116610, good condition, hairline scratches. Serviced last year, no more warranty. - $6,100 Condition of both are acceptable or better. Note: I do like the no date 114060 more, but the date 116610 looks like an offer that is very hard to refuse, considering market prices! Should I buy the date, and try to trade+cash for a date elsewhere?? Help!! |

Get the no date. It's what you want.

the 116610, only 3 years old and already serviced? What was wrong with it?
ANd like Adam asked, did RSC service it? if yes, that add 2 more years, and I like the Dates...more useful

It had a 4 year warranty, so he sent it in for service right before it had ended..

He bought it 03/2012, and the warranty expired earlier this year |

So it seems that they probably gave him and extra two years store warranty on top of his two year Rolex warranty, then he had the store service the watch, which is very different to an RSC service.
I would probably go for the 114060, but have you got pics of the watch and the full set it comes with? |

We can safely assume that the 114060 is in mint condition, and the 116610 has light wear. 116610 also has all proper paperwork, receipt, tags, box, etc. |

Great. Look forward to seeing it! Though I would wait and see how the gold one grabs you before getting a steel one (unless you have other reasons for buying, of course).

I just know I'll need an SS for those days a gold might be a little loud for.. T shirt days, international travelling, etc.

I'd go with the 114060 as, IMHO, the maxi-case and Glidelock are superior upgrades to a classic!

I know the date sub is a screaming deal. But if I were in your position, I'd still go the no date sub. IMO it will compliment your gold sub better + its mint, box and papers & almost new.

Is the no date considered a good enough deal to jump on? Or worth waiting for better?

I would go with the 114060. I like the styling more and the age of the watch works better. 6K is a fair price.

No date as it's newer and will be more different to the gold sub.

114060 as it more or less new as a personal choice I prefer it to the date version.

I would go for the no date because I prefer no date sub at this point . both seem like good deals. Which do you prefer? It is a coin flip.

I prefer the no date but strictly from a financial viewpoint, the 116610 is a better price, all else equal.

I like ND better and thought 6K is a great deal for virtually a new watch w green tag. And yes it compliments your incoming gold Sub better.
Now let's see some pics!! |

Buy whichever one is the most aesthetically pleasing to you. If it were me I would go with the 114060 for two reasons, one I like the aesthetic better and two, with your gold sub you have a sub with the Cyclops...the 114060 is a little more diverse this way. Good luck.

I paid $6k for mine brand new but no warranty from DavidSW last August. $6k basically new with 5 year warranty sounds like an excellent deal. I love my 114060. I can set the time very easily and go. It's my go to when I'm in a rush. Especially with the other incoming you should get the 114060.

I prefer the date sub but I also tend to buy the newest watch that I can find. The no date @ 6k is a fair price. I would hold out for a newer date in the $6500 range if it was me.

If you like the 114060 more , that's the one to get.
