Best UK courier to send strap to Michael Young in HK
Hello, I've done a search for this but not drawing luck. Am sending my ladies' jubilee strap to Michael in Hong Kong (who suggested RM and Fedex and insuring for 400 pounds) but Royal Mail and Fedex are coming up as 70-80 quid with that coverage.
Seeing as its 33 USD to return, that seems way too high. Am I missing something? Is there a cheaper alternative? Third party insurance for example? Thanks |

My best friend is from London and he has a similar issue sending me stuff
1) putting it in a padded envelope instead of a box might lower the cost 2) Royal Mail can send it for about 10 quid, but the insurance limit is 250 quid 3) if you want to insure past 250 quid, parcelforce takes over and the price jumps substantially |

Warning!!!!!!! I sent my watch (not a rolex) in the UK using the "Royal mail special delivery service" as I was informed at the post office that the watch would then be fully tracked and would be fully insured, and would be delivered the following day before 13:00 hrs.
The watch never arrived the following day, I decided to "track" the item on line, the only information available was that it had been collected the previous afternoon from the post office, there was no other information available so how can an item be fully tracked?? I contacted the post office by telephone who stated that I now had to wait 2 weeks to determine if the watch was delivered so much for their next day delivery service!!! The watch was never delivered, the item was only shown as collected from the post office, there was no other tracking information of where my watch went after that!!!! I then decided to make a claim to recover the cost of the watch, after completing the form and then having to wait for around 3 weeks for a reply I was informed by Royal mail that they would not pay ANYTHING as I did not have the original receipt for the watch, even though I had explained the watch was over 20 years old and and therefore did not retain the receipt. Royal mail refused to pay me any compensation they did not even return the cost of the postage etc!!!!! Their "Special delivery service" is rubbish and I would advise no one to use it!!!!! The watch could NOT be fully tracked as stated and I received NO compensation despite an appeal, I would never use their services again!!!!! |

DHL or fedex as there have been many true horror stories from ParcelForce and Royal Mail.
