NYC boutique

Has anyone ever been there? I went a couple days ago and they didn't have anything in stock and seemed rude/uninterested. I expected a little more from a boutique but I guess they get so much business in NYC they don't really have to try.

Last year when I was in New York, I did dropped by the AP boutique. They were not rude but certainly came across as rather disinterested. Meanwhile, a few blocks away, the service at the Lange boutique was nothing short of exemplary.

I have stopped in 3 of times over 2 years

I have had good service the first two times, the last time 6 mths ago, it was a bit more tepid.

My experience at the NYC AP boutique was very good and attentive. No complaints here.

I recieved decent service but better service at the miami boutique. They don't trip over you like some ADs and I actually like that.

Never had an issue. Always had good inventory when I was there, much better than many AP boutiques I have visited.

I went by there in January with my wife. She doesn't get the whole watch thing (yet). She saw a Tag that looked just like a Sub (to her).

All we asked the salesperson was "why would someone buy a Rolex for $8k when there is a tag over there for $4k" hoping he would sell my wife on the excellence of Rolex. He just looked blankly at us and mumbled something about "they're just better." #FAIL

I've been there a couple of times within the past two years and they have always had good service, but I had my AP on each visit. Also I do remember seeing a good selection. Last time I went I saw a few concept tourbillons and a 15305st

I went there 2 times and i had great experience with them there is a lady named Selin, she is very nice sales person :):)

I bet it's a real drag working at the Boutique....

They don't have any / much inventory to actually sell, people who come in are either just kicking tires, in awe over the pricing, complain about watches breaking and needing service and other unpleasant encounters...

Day to day of this and the wrong type of employee just mails it in everyday....

Been there once and he took care of us. No complaints, he seemed more than happy to show us pieces.

I think a real WIS would enjoy working at a boutique. Being able to talk about the watches all day, even to people that aren't WIS, would be fun.

I think NY is the only one I haven't been to. Went to Bal Harbor, Vegas and LA. All were very nice and let me try on anything I wanted. I like them way more than he typical ADs because there is absolutely no pressure to buy. The boutiques seem more like a place to try on pieces, learn more about the brand, enjoy conversation and maybe a glass of champagne or a cup of espresso. I find he atmosphere to be much more relaxed than the typical AD experience.

Maybe it was what I was wearing or the people I was with but they all just didn't seem very engaging. I have an AD in my home town and they turned me onto the band and I was excited to check out the boutique and maybe learn more about certain pieces. My friend who lives in NYC told me people just go in and buy watches. The sales people don't have to try to sell you a watch since people walking in have already done their research and are either trying the watch on or ready to purchase.

i was in NYC and sent an email in the evening mentioning a piece i wanted and saying i could come in to purchase but did not have time to browse. They responded early the next am and said they were sold out for this year. No pressure and rapid response..

Bought several from them. Jonny can be hit or miss and use to deal with manager, but she left a year or so ago.

I do find the energy people walk in can dictate how they react. For example, for the most part I dress very casually but smile at everyone I see and engage in them conversation. People typically respond in a like manner.

Wow I totally agree. I've only been to Bal Harbor and it was exactly as you say. I had planned to go to the NY boutique this summer because I will be in the city. Perhaps I won't now.

My interactions with the NYC boutique have been very good. I was recently in because they had to order some plots for my Bumblebee since one of them cracked. I dealt with Selin when we ordered the plots and when I went in to have them installed. (I thought she was the Sevice Manager and not in Sales but I might be mistaken.). Also had the deployant clasp rotated and another strap changed on the Buemi I own.

Yup me to, no problem at all. I was just browsing and they actually asked me if I wanted to try anything on.

I have unpleasant experience with Singapore AP Towers too. After they re-open I went there alone and wanted to do some browsing to see if any model catches my attention. Told the sales girl my intention. After looking through some showcases on the ground floor and asked if they have a showroom upstairs because from outside the building it looks like a 2 level showroom. The sales girl said they only have the ground level and throughout the 10 mins I was there. Her body language shows unwillingness to serve me. So I went away.
To my surprise I recently saw a promotional video of this showroom and they do have showroom on the 2nd floor.

Has anyone had a piece shipped from a Boutique? I was originally told free shipping but now I am being told I have to pay for the insurance which on pieces between 35k-50K is 450 dollars. Kind of defeats the free shipping concept. I am told this is a Corporate AP policy.

It’d be cheaper to fly there and pick it up in person, unless that’s deemed as trying to circumvent paying local State Sales Tax?

What’s the deal with a watch left in for warranty repair? Do you pay “insurance” for the AD/Boutique to ship it to Clearwater, and/or back again?
If there’s no payment in that scenario, then I can’t see how purchasing requires it – and presuming that AP has a contract which the Boutiques and APSC use together, then I’d be highly surprised if "insurance" is anywhere near $450.

Case in point, I’ve just done a mock UPS delivery (non-contract, non collection) from the NY Boutique to 94126, covered to $40K, and the quickest option is $477, for a 3lb box 12x6x5, by 8am.
I doubt FedEx is going to be much different.

A Rolex Boutique only sells Rolex watches. An AP Boutique only sells AP watches. Etc. Also with AP for instance there are "boutique only" pieces that your typical AD wont have. Boutiques are much higher on the pecking order. Whereas your typical AD will have jewelry and watch selections from more than 1 brand.

Well if you have to spend a full day flying each way and hotel.. etc.. but the boutique involved is a 2 hr flight and only 1.2% less sales tax and of course the 450 dollar savings. Was trying to make a mini vacation out of it.. but the timing is not right
