Tips for Keeping a vintage Rolex dial in good shape?
Hello,
So I own a 1969 1675 root beer and it's my favorite watch, so I wear it a lot. I'm curious how I can keep the dial looking exactly the same. I'm pretty active when wearing it and always worry some paint is going to flake off, or a nipple marker will come loose. It would be great to hear ways to keep a vintage Rolex dial in great shape. Thanks Paul |

Obvious advice is to avoid water and moisture.
Whether it sees sunlight or not is dependent on owner as some may like a faded look which can be achieved when its exposed to sunlight for prolonged periods. The other is making sure the right watchmaker handles your watch. Its very easy to chip the dials / make marks due to poor workmanship or when the movement isn't secured down properly. |

^ Seconded on the water/moisture point above. Keep in mind that this includes not exposing the watch to high humidity environments like bathrooms with lots of steam. My watchmaker was telling me the other day about a guy that ruined his vintage prize possession after it got steamed up while he was showering and he failed to immediately deal with the moisture ingress.
Nice watch, by the way! |
