Greetings All,

Has anyone ever experienced a stiffening when trying to turn their GMT IIc bezel. This question assumes that the bezel turned more smoothly before and then later, without warning, it became more difficult to turn. If so, what was your course of action?

Not on my GMTII C, but it happened with my LV. Granted the GMT is bi directional, and has fewer clicks, but the same basic mechanism. Mine was downright hard to turn at 8 oclock. I popped the bezel to clean\inspect it. Saw no problems, even when checking with a loupe. Put it together again, and it was fine. A few months later, same thing happened, same 8 o'clock spot.

At this point, I said screw it, and brought it back to my AD (was 16 months old) to have it sent to RSC under the warantee. That was 4 weeks ago. They said it would take 6. All I know is that I miss my damn LV.

You may have some debries caught between the bezel & the case, give a quick rinse under warm water and see if that helps.

The GMT II C bezel is based on 3 ball bearing and has nothing in common with old gmt bezel which was based on a clickspring

If i where you i would put the water in the water and start rotating the bezel few times

It happened to me few days ago and everything is fine after the trick with the water

Didn't realize that the IIc had a ball bearing bezel setup. Makes it bit less user serviceable. Then again, except or people on sites like these, who the hell would start prying apart their Rolex? :)

Every other week or so, I wash my watch. I use a mild hand soap to lather the watch and I turn the bezel while lathering. Then I place the watch under running water to rinse and spin the bezel to insure all the soap is removed. I do notice the bezel turns smoother afterwards. Give this a try and if it doesn't help, I 'd suggest a visit to the AD you purchased the watch from. Good luck!

Interesting thread guys, I have never experienced any stiffining from my Rolexes.... now my girls!!! thats a different question :-)

Frostie, Thanks for the exploded view. Didn't realize that's what was going on with that watch. Not a fan of the supercase, but like to know what it's all about.
