Found a rolex 1601 dark grey dial need your opinion

Hello Gentlemen,

Found this 1601 with a dealer in Dubai, I am in Egypt but my cousin will go to the dealer to finalise the deal tomorrow. The price is great in comparison to similar models found online. We still will check the serial when my cousin sees it tomorrow. Here are some pics let me know your opinion

Nice looking watch. That's a 1603 bezel, not the end of the world but a 1601 has a 14k bezel. It's been polished but not that bad. An interior shot would be good to check for corrosion.

Perhaps it's my monitor but the photographs are confusing.

Are the case, the bezel, and the dial markers all stainless steel (silver color) or is this a two-tone that is a mix of silver and gold? I am not sure if the bezel and hands are reflecting someone's skin or another object, not sure if this is two-tone or all steel.

1603 engined turned bezels are stainless steel. The 1603 was the poor man's DJ, none of that fancy gold for it! :)

I guess the moral of the story is that it's okay to slum with a 1603 so long as you have a 1601 to offset it.

Thanks for the information! I checked both 1601 and 1603 online and it definitely looks like a 1603!

Sorry, but that's not a nice DJ weather it's an 1603 or 1601.
The lugs are thin and nearly polished down to the lug wholes.
The engine turned bezel has been polished several times, too but is....let's say ok.
The finish/brush on top of the lugs hasn't been done very good.
Dial is a nice one.
I personally would pass it. There are many many better ones out there!

I understand now, the reflection of the flesh color made me think it might be a two-tone watch.

I think you're judging a bit too harshly, I don't see it that way at all. If the lug holes were burnished far down we'd be seeing the spring bar poking through and that's not happening.

What we don't know is the price he is paying. So long as it is around $2,000 USD he is getting a fair deal for a DJ without box, papers, or a bracelet with the hard-to-find grey dial.
