Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona 116500
Ran some analysis on current prices across multiple sales platforms and uncovered the following information:
(Black Dial) Lowest Price: $16,700 USD Highest Price: $21,575 USD Difference of $4,875 or roughly 30% in price. Here is a list of prices for watches currently for sale: $21,575.00 $20,795.00 $18,995.00 $18,500.00 $17,000.00 $17,000.00 $16,700.00 (White Dial) Lowest Price: $16,700 USD Highest Price: $20,575 USD Difference of $3,875 or roughly 23% in price. Here is a list of prices for watches currently for sale: $20,575.00 $19,700.00 $19,575.00 $17,200.00 $16,700.00 It appears that watches are currently selling at a substantial premium over AD prices ($12,400). Average markup is 50% Average Price: 18652.14 I'm curious to see how prices will trend for this highly sought after watch. Any thoughts on whether we will see an appreciation of price or is the hype already priced in? Warm regards, |

Thanks for putting it together. I think the price difference are directly correlated to professional sellers vs hobbyist that were lucky to snag one.

What I'd suggest, and will follow my own advice, if you're still on a list at an AD by Christmas - then snag a pre-owned for some savings.

I don't think Tom would actually. And you don't either Roger, it's a beauty.

It's a great watch and I feel lucky to have been an early owner, but I would never pay over MSRP.

To answer one of your questions - no I do not think the Daytona C will appreciate in value (not counting the price hikes) because there will be plenty made for a long time. Everyone who wants one will get one, at MSRP or less eventually. I do not think you will need to wait that long - all that talk about 5-10 year wait is complete BS to me.
I used the hype to pick up a classic Daytona in black dial for a great price and relative value and don't feel like I am missing out. I will probably get the white Daytona C at some point down the road if I don't lose interest. |
